Title: RBI WALL
Post by: aldrete bastard on 01/15/05, 01:21:40 PM
not too sure if this has been done before. But here in Ottawa our love for RBI has made us decide to decorate our living room with the heroes of RBI. It wasn't that hard and we got most of the cards from my old collection (still missing like 20 players though...the wall will never be finished until we find them). Just wanted to show you guys that...

Well done aldrete...  I thought you lived in a dorm, that looky a little too classy for one....

Good use of lime green posterboard, doesn't get enough use in today's hi-tech society...

The fact that you have a 'suite room'  excludes it from Worst Dorm Ever status.  Our dorms at NIU were the size of a shoebox, and apparently U of I is worse...

The UofI dorms are roughly the size of a Jello pudding pack.

So what kind of cheap beer do the college kids drink up there aldrete?   They have PBR in Canada?  Always on the lookout for cheap, crappy beer that I haven't tried yet...

we are the kings of cheap beer...
PBR by that do you mean Pabst Blue Ribbon? because we have that....24 dollars for a 24.....there are a whole bunch of dollar a beer brands now in Ontario....Lakeport Honey, Lucky Lager, Laker, and red cap are just to name a few. you can obviously get 12 for 12 dollars...and 24 for 24 dollars...its pretty sweet

I used to drink Lucky Lager all the time in college, just because of the bottle caps.  The bottles are also the perfect size for throwing.

And how much is a Canadian Dollar?  PBR is $10.99 or $11.99 US for a 30-pack in Chicago...

What other American beers are popular in Ontario?

woah 12 dollars for a 30 pack??? thats unheard of? Old Milwaukee is big here....and so is Bud..and Yankee Jim is a good cheap american beer here...I have no idea what the exchange is right now...but for us here the dollar a beer is sweet since no one in univeristy has money..oh and if we really really want to go cheap we do the old Colt 45....3.95 for a 40

The exchange rate's not good right now, about .83 US$ per 1C$.  I guess beer prices in Canada stayed constant as the US Dollar fell, making it about 10 bucks for a cheap twelver.  Damn, I can't imagine paying Michelob prices for PBR.

Are you somehow implying that Michelob is a better beer than PBR?  I sincerely hope you are kidding...

Quoteand Yankee Jim is a good cheap american beer here

I don't think they allow us Yanks to drink it, cause I've never heard of Yankee Jim....

"Yankee Jim, Yankee Jim...  I like my Yankee Jim"

I always come back from Canada broke because I get drunk and the money just seems like play money.  Combine that with the fact that the only places we ever go there are strip clubs and casinos and you have all the makings of a good evening.

we do have an abundance of casinos and strip clubs...and the further north you go...the cheaper they both get.
And our money kicks ass...its colourful.....a lot better than your boring green bills.
And Gantry you serioulsy don't have Yankee Jim? it says its brewed in Milwaukee?

A fellow Canadian on the board....awesome.

Getting drunk is expensive up here to say the least.

I am assuming the Great White North tacks on some extra tax for alcohol, which would explain the discrepancy in pricing.  Damn Socialists!

12 dollars a night is not bad at all.  and where are you from in Canada? you should come to our tourny...every Grey Cup weekend..self proclaimed Canadian National RBI tourny.

first of all...I have seen the RBI baseball wall with my own eyes, and it is unrivalled in its beauty, and its funny to watch non-rbi fans stare at it with sadness and confusion.

Now, on to the beer question.  First of all, American "beer" can't really be called that, it contains very little alcohol, it is essentially wierd looking water.  That being said, people up here have no real desire to drink it, much like the areas of foreign policy, igloo-building, personality and hockey skills our nations finds itself superior to our southern nation in our beer making, and I'd say, consuming skills.

The greatest of the cheap beer is without a doubt Lakeport Honey, as it is wonderful in taste and wonderful on the wallet.

Now...back to the RBI wall, I feel that the centrepiece of said wall is the wonderfully crafted "RBI" written in the centre, it was wonderful work by men far superior to myself, although I did attend the unveiling.

Yankee Jim...
I am from Wisconsin, just outside of Milwaukee.  I have seen this beer before, but never drank it.  I think Miller actually owns it..
