I have been trying to play this online w/ a buddy, but am having problems.
We both launch the same ROM. The Network Play dialog box shows that both
player 1 and 2 are both connected. (ie "Player 1 is connected as Player 1"
& "Player 2 has connected as player 2".
However, we are not able to play eachother. Is there something special we
have to do.
There was one time we almost had it..... We each selected our team, and we
got to the "select pitcher" screen. I selected my pitcher (my arrow turned
into a baseball), however my friend did not pick his pitcher. Then my
buddy called me and told me that he was in the top of the 1st inning
striking me out on his computer. I was still looking at the pitcher
selection screen.
Any words of wisdom. (ie... are we supposed to reset the game or
something?) (Are we both just supposed to select 2 player, then hit start,
and pick our team?).....
Not the most computer savvy person on earth so please be specific if you can help.
Maybe one of you lost connection at some point, I would just try it again, sounds like everything had been going OK. You saw him choosing his team right?

Yes, I have gotten it to work a couple of times. It is really difficult to get used to the lag time in network play. Sometimes it is as much as a half second. It isn't too bad batting (if just playing normal speed straight pitch), but is really difficult in the field.
Are there any suggestions for decreasing the lag time? What is Pal Emulation?

As of right now, the server is the culprit for lag. Hopefully will get a fast server going to see if that helps....
PAL emulation is for european carts, as their TVs use a different standard to display the picture. Don't think you'll use that one too much...
Using Pal Emulation does put things in slower motion. But doesn't seem to help the time lag.
I am still having problems with Network Play. Can someone please help me? Everything seems to be connected properly. My buddy and I are able to chat w/ eachother from the network play screen, and it says player 1 and player 2 are both connected. When I connect it says "remote state loaded" at the bottom of the screen. Are there some other settings that are supposed to be used or something. This is so frustrating.

Just wanted to thank Lips for helping me with this.
My problem was that I was using the newest version of FCE Ultra (version 0.98.12). Evidentally this does not work right with network play. You need to use version 0.98.10:

Was able to play a whole game against him, and worked well. Yes, there was some lag, but as long as it is equall for both teams, it still beats driving 2000 miles to play my friends in Wisconsin.
