Worst.Card.Ever.
You mean it's worse than this '76 Topps card?
If Hrbek grounds into one more 4-6-3 then I am going to start benching him.
I remember that Bevaqua card well, it was in the first set I ever got.

Yeah right, who are you gonna bring in?
benching hrbek is insane. check out the fantasy stats at the site. HRBEK is one of the most dangerous lefty hitters in the game.
Hrbek is the goods, I would NEVER take him out in any situation. Especially with that bench...
I'd like to buy a vowel.
By the way...subbing Smalley in for H(e)rbek is a GREAT idea.
I would never take out Hrbek- I was using HYPERBOLE or EXAGGERATION to express my displeasure with his proclivity to ground into dp's.
Fuckers.
If you need to express displeasure, look no further than Puckett. What a waste of stats that fella is...
I agree with our humble leader Gantry that Puckett blows. I think that offense is the worst in the league if you include bench... in fact, I am going to start a Houston/ Minnesota comparison thread right now.
Too bad their bats aren't as "big" in RBI...
PS. Yeah yeah, i know: worst post ever.
more garbage:
Last one, i swear.
Retrospective on the 1991 World Series (http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/10/31/still-series-savor-1991-twins-braves), featuring lots of discussion with Kent Hrbek.
KEY QUOTE:
QuoteBack in 1991, Hrbek was telling the national press corps gathered in Minneapolis for Games 1 and 2 that his all-time best bowling score was 267. But six years ago, at his beloved West Side Lanes in St. Paul, he eclipsed that mark, rolling 11 consecutive strikes and requiring only one more for a perfect game. "When I threw that 12th ball, going for a 12th strike, I just about crapped my pants," he says. "I was shaking so hard trying to get 300." He left a single pin standing, for a 299. Or as his hunting buddy and former Twins teammate Tim Laudner calls it: "Room for improvement."
saw that article last week in the print version. Yes I still get the print version, now get off my lawn!
As soon as I turned the page and saw what the article was about my heart broke a little. Took a bit of effort on my part to start reading it, but it was good. The mention of the Lonnie Smith base running blunder got my blood pressure up (THE PLAY WAS RIGHT IN FUCKING FRONT OF HIM!!), but it was great to revisit probably the most exciting sporting event I can ever remember.
my favorite part:
QuoteWhen Minnesota manager Tom Kelly had come to the mound in the eighth, one Twin later told Kurkjian that if the manager had tried to take the ball from starting pitcher Jack Morris, a terrible spectacle would have followed: that of the ace murdering the manager on live television. At the very least, Hrbek says, there would have been a delay while the grounds crew came out "to scrape pieces of TK off the mound."
I got a tweet liked by Kent Hrbek yesterday because he is the best.
Why was I tweeting about Kent Hrbek? Because his bar in Target Field is serving this:

That looks like a pretty substantial bloody for a ball park.
That drink makes me giggle.
Previous years' bloody mary garnishes have included a slice of cold pizza and an entire cheeseburger... if anything, this year's (with a simple variety of sausages and cheeses) seems toned-down.
That shit is getting out of control.
Is that a slim jim-ish type meat stick in the drink?
Would eat/drink.
Latest episode of Gleeman and the Geek, the Twins podcast I listen to, had Kent Hrbek as a guest at their annual Winter Meltdown event: http://gleemangeek.libsyn.com/episode-463-winter-meltdown-202-with-kent-hrbek-and-trevor-plouffe
The man gives an excellent interview.

Minnesota's governor signed a bill yesterday allocating $25M to ALS research. Hrbek was at the bill signing, as he's been a huge backer of ALS research for decades after losing his father to the disease.
