Title: Instruction Manual
Post by: ultimate7 on 01/20/05, 03:18:27 PM
First of a couple of links (one has a PDF link with the actual page, the other is just a text file, don't know if either of these are already linked to Dee-Nee.

http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/rbi_baseball.txt
http://www.nesfiles.com/NES/RBI_Baseball/RBI_Baseball.pdf

A couple of things:
For some reason I was thinking guys had Power grades (like they do contact and speed, but they don't).
Berenguer's Top speed is listed at 94, while Nolan Ryan's at 100, I wonder if they just screwed up Juan's data.

I think it has something to do with direct links to their site.  I just copied the link and pasted it in a new tab and it worked fine.

The pdf manual was already on the main page, but I copied it directly to dee-nee and added it to the media page (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/media.shtml), where more people would likely look for it...

As for the gamefaqs guide, it explicitly says that it's for gamefaqs use only.  I can email the dude and see if he'll let me put it on the site.  But first someone check to see if it's actually worth it.  I have a feeling it's full of errors about game strategy and player ability...

I know Blyleven No No is gonna be mad, but I emailed the gamefaq guy for purposes of recruitment of the tourney...but the email bounced back.  Does anybody know this fella?  He does have ICQ (34735745) listed, but I don't have that.  Can somebody who's an ICQ user look up his ID and get an email address?

He's in PA (adjacent to OH), so he really might be a good potential player in the tourney...

Two-plus years is a lifetime in teenage Internet culture.  He's probably moved on to Worlds of Warcraft or devotes all his time to insulting people on Slashdot or Fark...

You do have ICQ. Note that as far as the protocol is concerned, AIM and ICQ are the exact same thing. You can look up ICQ users via AIM by using their ICQ number as their "screen name."

That said, his profile had no e-mail address, but does list The Jaded Gamer - For real gamers, by real gamers... (http://thejadedgamer.net) as his "Personal Web Page."

For a guy who touts the virtues of 8-bit gaming, the Jaded Gamer doesn't lean too heavily towards the classic side...

never liked this tone.

My buddy gave me a mint condition RBI manual and poster tonight.  I noticed that the booklet says the higher the contact rating the better.  Also noticed that Bob Stanley's curve is graded as a B and Clemens as a C...of course they have the same curve attributes according to the rom info.

He also had a near mint condition Tecmo bowl box and manual.  The screen shots on the back of the box must be from a early prototype of the game, as it lists 1st names of players(Lawrence/John), and shows 5 minute quarters.

Also shows SF with a formation that only has 2 receivers(niether with an arrow above), and also has a weird 3-3-3 defense for the Giants.

best gifts ive gotten all year.

Remember that the harder a pitcher throws, the less curve they have, which is probably why Clemens has a slightly less curve...

That contact thing must be a misprint.  It's easy to test on the ROM and see by giving some guy 1000 power with 0 contact, and then 1000 power with 255 contact and notice a difference.

Cool gifts, Brad...

I noticed that the booklet says the higher the contact rating the better.

This kind of makes sense - if I recall correctly, doesn't the booklet list the contact rating just as a letter grade (ABCD)?  Higher grades are better, in that sense.

Yeah, its A through E (E being the worst) for all 3 batter categories.
