I'll be rebooting my computer quite often today to do a bunch of software updates. For the geeks, I'm upgrading my kernel, XFree86 and going to GNOME2. It's going to be quite the task, as I need to do major jumps in kernel (I'm on 2.2.x) and XFree (4.0 to 4.2) versions to get it done...
So expect the site to be down for 5-10 minutes patches throughout the day. My apologies...
Wow, this has been fun... I've broken just about every package on my system. Looks like perl/php/apache are back up and running. Now to fix sendmail...
Sorry again guys
25-35 packages later, I'm running a 2.4 kernel. That coupled with the RAM upgrade (from 128 to 192mb) is a huge increase in performance, at least for me. Not sure if it's faster from the outside, but it's running great here...
I shouldn't be rebooting anymore, maybe once if I really screw something up...
Now to break XFree...
Xfree installed quite easily, but all my fonts are broken. Man does it look like ass...
Onto GNOME2
