Are the ratings in the "Default Arcade Data" ROM in Nightwulf's editor accurate? If so, I have a question: Where did they come from? Were they pulled out of the arcade ROM and plugged back into a NES ROM, or is this just a guess (not that I can imagine Nightwulf settling for a guess)?
I was looking through the values in the editor, and it seems like a lot of values that are multiples of 5, lots of players with the same values, and values assigned even more haphazardly than in the NES version. I realize this wasn't a precision operation, but the fact that Babe Ruth has less power than Davey Johnson and Joe Adcock (for that matter, that Ruth has less power than anyone) seems a bit silly.
That is a good point. I have played the actual Arcade version before and Babe Ruth was absolutely awesome. He would probably hit a home run almost half his at bats.
I think they just spent less time on the Arcade data, it seems like they grouped a bunch of guys together and they all have the same power(who knows how they chose these groups).
Many Power numbers are 975-945-900-855-870-855-840-825-810-795-780
Groups every 15 (though some people fall between who knows why).
In addition there is a lot more variance in Pitcher Stamina in the Arcade version
NES sticks to the standard 40-40-15-15 (with slight variations)
Arcade sometimes have 3-4 "starters. Houston has 40-30-35-18 with their 4 starters.
If you go into Nightwulf's editor, I posted a ROM called Stock_Allstars. It has AL and NL all-star teams for 2005, 1999, 1992, and 1985. The 2 teams all the way to the right are HOF all-star teams. I all stats and attributes are proportionately acurate. Might want to try this out. If you can't find it, let me know and I will email it to you as an attachment.
I would also like to take this opportunity to shamelessly plug my ROM. It is a 2nd Arcade Version with 10 different teams from the Original Arcade. I had started doing the Power numbers in increments of 15 also, but then decided against it, making the Power numbers more like the NES, the pitching is more like the Arcade though since many teams only have 1 true relief pitcher.
ROM can be found on Dee-Nee ROMs page:

Is this a guess?! :P
The original rankings came from the arcade ROM (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/roms/RBI-Arcade.zip) (rbibb-prg and rbibb-chr, or something like that). If you open up the -prg file, you'll see that it looks surprisingly similar to an NES RBI ROM.
Note that the Vs. Unisystem (the arcade system that ran NES games, pre-PlayChoice 10) is almost identical to a NES. This arcade ROM (http://nightwulf.rbicentral.com/ROMs/rbibb.zip) in .NES format was created by concatenating the -prg and -chr portions of the arcade ROM and adding a iNES header at the beginning. It didn't always play well on any emulator, but it's fantastic in recent versions of FCEU. F8 is the "insert coin" key.

I assumed they were from the actual arcade ROM, but I wasn't sure whether the data was stored the same (although I guess it would make sense for it to be). Thanks for the info.
Some notes:
1) I need to get that fucking data on the arcade team pages already.
2) stock - attach the rom and i'll add it to the ROMs page

Not sure how to attach a ROM, but I have it saved to nightwulf's RBI editor.
http://nightwulf.rbicentral.com/rbi-editor/
It is named "stock_allstars".
If you cannot get it, send me a pm with your email, and I will send it to you along with a player list/stats when I get home from work.
ROM attached.
