Title: Dee Nee Kings
Post by: Ryno23 on 01/27/05, 07:16:59 PM
I got my 85-87 set of "large" diamond kings.  I will begin posting pics of the RBIers from the set.  Feel free to discuss them as you will.

That's all of the RBI'ers from the 3 sets.

Sure, there are other RBI'er Diamond Kings, but Donruss only made this "Large" set for 3 years.

RBI'ers are larger than life!

nice work on the postage ryno.  i think those artist's renderings suck.  some of those guys look like other players on their team, or not like the player at all.  look at george bell... looks like tony fernandez to me.  and doug decinces needs a larger adams apple.

Blame Dick Perez.  He's the bastard responsible for it all.

The artistry is quite horrible, but I like those cards anyways.

Funny, this also made me recall a dream I had recently, I have no idea where I was (some sort of RBI tournament) and someone was playing on a gray cart and before the game it you could choose the weather conditions (rain or no rain) similar to SEGA tecmo super bowl II.  I claimed that on the black cart you could not choose the weather conditions it was random whether or not there was rain, strange.

If they made Dee-Nee kings for each of the 10 teams (we'll include Am and Na for fun), who would you pick for each team?

CA - Reggie
Bo - Rice
Dt - Gibby
Mn - Gaeti (he murders me)
Ho - Ryan? Lopes?
NY - Drugs
Stl - Tudor? Morris? (I have no idea, I might go with Vince)
SF- Chili
Am - McGwire
Na - The Hawk

My only difference with FightOn is that I'd replace Garner with N.Ryan for Houston.   Maybe switch Chili Davis with The Thrill.

I'm biased to Nails Garners (I'm stunned you aren't) - he might not have the best stats, but he's the heart and soul of Ho.

I picked Nolan over Garner for the same reason i picked Gooden over Strawberry.  I'm in a "pitching dominates" mood.  Ask me again next week and I might give you a different answer.

Based on how they perform for me:

Ca - Jackson
Dt - Evans
Bo - RBI
Mn - Bush
Ho - Reynolds
NY - Strawberry
Stl - Lindeman
SF - Spilman

Ca: Jackson
Bo: Baylor
Dt: Trammel
Mn: Hrbek
Ho: Ryan
NY: Gooden
SL: Clark
SF: Davis
Am: Bell (I believe the DK should be a starter, or I'd have picked McGwire)
Na: Raines

As with Gantry's picks, my picks are based on how they perform for me, not their stats/ratings.  Raines is my favorite player to use in the game.

This is tough for me due to my recent lack of 2 player play, I have problems remembering who does the best on some teams I don't often use, but here goes nothing:

Dt:  Evans
Mn:  Blyleven
Ho:  Ryan
NY:  Strawberry
Sl:  JClark
Sf:  WClark (tough between him and Krukow)
Am:  Canseco
Na:  EDavis
