Title: Best sound in RBI
Post by: vgp100 on 03/20/03, 04:32:22 PM
Isn't the best sound when you lead off a game with a home run? No music--just the sound of the ball leaving the park.

The first pitch homer is indeed great, however I would add that the best sound is the first pitch homer that goes so high and far out of the stadium that the camera angle doesn't fall because the ball is descending.  The ball disappears in the sky when the camera is at its highest point and you get that BOOM from the first firework before any music starts.

Usually on a regular homer that just disappears into the stands, the homerun music starts when the ball hits the stands; the camera moves up some and then the boom happens when the camera stops moving.

Does anybody else know what I'm talking about?

I'll second the no sound HR.  It's pretty f&*king cool.

how about when you hit a homerun and the crowd cheers, then the pitcher pitches a couple pitches and you make contact and for some reason they are still cheering (even though you cant hear them while batting)

Yes, the fans' HR after-effect is nice.  Although it sucks when the first contact after a homerun is a foul or bunt and they cheer for that.  I'd have to vote for the no music homer.

no no no... you got it all wrong

it's all about when you got two outs, bases loaded, and you hit a TOWERING fly ball deep to left.  All your guys are just sitting there at home plate and the guy that hit it is coming up on third, and then you hear that blessed sound:  the bop.  no contest--best sound in the game right there.

How about a long foul ball that hits the stadium wall and then bonks a fan on the head. I always loved that.

My favorite sound in RBI is definitely the Dying Cow:

While I do love the no-music homer, I have to agree with Nightwulf here.  I've always found the foul ball off the fans heads amusing.

I have one, when there are 3 outs and you have the ball at 1st or 3rd base, you run out and throw it at the wall, if timed correctly, the sound of the ball hitting the wall gets put into the music when you change innings, making a higher pitched song (but only for half a second)

I also like the sound made when a fielder's choice has to be made and the out is made at first, but all the while you had a guy standing on home plate waiting to score.  Rather than hearing that terrible sound of getting an out, it combined with and drowned out by the sound of scoring a run.  It helps ease the pain
