Title: New online RBI server
Post by: Gantry on 02/05/05, 02:41:20 PM
Put 209.242.26.125 into the host address and give it a whirl!  Haven't done any tweaking yet, but the hardware is new and fast....

Hmmm, I can't ping the server anymore.  I have a feeling it is powered off...  There is an outlet at the office that gets turned off with the light switch, I likely plugged it into there.  Dumb ass...

The server should be back up, give it a test...

Has anyone tested the new server yet?  I plan on taking a look at it tonight, if no one else tests it beforehand.

If it's tested, Nails and I plan to get our series started tonight.

Thunder Thunder Thunder, Thundercats HO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haven't played anyone yet, but just connected using the new server.  Was able to play an inning against the computer.  Seems to be working.

Was the performance any better/worse?

Haven't noticed any drastic changes, but it did seem to jump around less.
Maybe this will help better with the fantasy rules with pitching.

A lot of my strikeouts on the old server were because, I would never even see the pitch, and then the game would jump and it would just say "Strike"..."Out".  This is very annoying.  Hopefully this will go away.

Agreed.  I played 3 games with dee nee newbie Azzelsomething rather.  It was definitely better with the lag.

Nails and I just tried a 4-inning warmup on the new server and it was pretty lag-a-hellish.  Maybe the servers act better at night when less people are hitting them (because when I played JoeDirt the other night on dee-nee.com, we saw barely any lag at night).  I'm not sure.

But Nails and I are going to play at least our first series game later tonight on dee-nee.com (not the new server).

Yeah, the lag was pretty bad on both servers.   There were instances where I'd see the pitcher windup, and then never see the ball until it was in the catcher's glove.

It was like that for my games too.
I am thinking that after this season is done, we should try a season where we turn off the strikeouts.  I don't know about anyone else, but I prefer high scoring games.  I think I would rather lose 25-20 than win 3-1 (with 15 strikeouts in the game).
Just a thought.

I was very pleased with the server last night.

I really wish there would have been some lag so I'd have an excuse other than sucking monkey nuts at RBI.

as much as I hate knucklers, I think we should keep them going.

Why don't we just put the ball on a tee for everybody?

You have your preferences and I have mine.  I like high scoring games with lots of homers.  You like low scoring games with lots of strikeouts.  That is fine.  I just don't consider a knuckle ball a straight pitch, that is all.  It shakes its way to the plate and then sometimes drops in the dirt.

Was just an Idea, for another season.  You don't have to participate if you don't want.

Just grumpy because I know I am going to get my ass kicked when I play a team with a couple really good knuckle pitchers.  I swing at everything because this is the way I've played my whole life.  I prefer the drinking rules.

Beej and I played a game last night using dee.nee as the server and had pretty much zero problems.  When there was any lag it didn't affect the game at all.

No complaints except for losing and still not owning a controller.

Didn't you just sweep a team with Blyleven and Krukow?

There was noticable difference between games 1,2 and our final game.  I think Lips is right that the performance is better later at night when there's less traffic.

Mclane's performance definitely wasn't any better.  Corbett and Moore pitched all 9 innings for my win.   ;)

True.  But Ryno hardly threw any knucklers in the first 2 games.  When he finally started throwing knucklers, he was striking me out all the time.  The last game went 10 innings, and had to come back from a 3 run deficit in the 8th.
