I was just reminiscing about the days when 31 HR's was a great full-season total, and I thought of Glenn Davis, which made me think of my beloved DisAstros. I see that they don't exactly have a popular following around here. But gentlemen, you must look BEYOND the surface. You can't judge a team solely on its inability to put the ball in play, score runs, and compete with other teams. No, you must look DEEPER. Look at... ah, the uniforms? Well, no, they bugled that too -- at least RBI could have given us the delightful "TIDE detergent box"-style uniforms. Apparently, that feat could not be accomplished by the programmers on a 16-bit system.
Ok, they're not so bad if you pull Walling, Bass, and Ashby for Lopes, Puhl, and Garner.
Incidentally, Puhl is the only one of the above group who hasn't managed the Brewers yet. Guess it's between him and Dickie Thon now.
I'm fresh off a five-game winning streak with the Astros and I still think they suck. I like Lopes in the leadoff spot, good speed and surprising power. Terry Puhl Day goes in for Walling and Garner (a poor man's Jim Lindeman) go in for Ashby. Even with that lineup, they still can't do much in straight pitch. Nolan Ryan gives them a chance in curve though...
as much as i like dickie thon, the asstros fucking suck
Let me be the first to say that the Astros are my favorite RBI team. What a challenge it is to beat any other team. Takes a great game from the Stros. I keep Hatcher and Cruz in, take out Walling for Puhl, take out Geena Davis for Lopes, leave in Bass, Doran, Reynolds, and Ashby, and keep Garner on the bench for late inning heroics. Team becomes very fast with those subs. Ashby really tore it up a couple of weeks ago. And isn't NES an 8-bit system?
Yes, the NES is an 8-bit system...
Taking out Geena might work, but I never pull the trigger. Hatcher doesn't do much for me, but I haven't given him enough chances, especially in curve...
geena davis has to go... i like garner there in the four spot... who am i kidding though casue the stros are about as impotent as a team can get.
Lopes can run. Geena is not as bad as many of you say, and with guys on base and Bass protecting him, he can hit 3 run bombs.
I was playing with Detroit last night and got upset by Houston- Ryan/ Kerfeld/ Smith shut me out.
nobody ever said houston didnt have good pitching... the problem is if you arent on your a game you are going lose cause the offense cant score more than 3 runs a game.
That's why it's up to Nolan and mike scott to shut down the opposition, which they are more than capable of. the only problem is who to start in game 1.
Fuck em.
How did these guys make edits in 1969?

Taking out Geena Davis is foolhardy, he may suck for a cleanup hitter but he's lightyears better than Hatcher, Cruz or Assby...
Geena was easily my team MVP in the straight pitch league over Eric Davis, Don Baylor and all the other fucks I drafted early who never gave me any production.
Also you never want to underestimate the bat of Nolan Ryan.
