Well, the qualifier is underway. Each match-up is 2-game series. Here's the schedule of events:
Round 1:
Zorba vs. Lips
Jason vs. Nick
Round 2:
Nick vs. Zorba
Lips vs. Jason
Round 3:
Zorba vs. Jason
Nick vs. Lips
Well, game one of the first series is complete between Zorba and I. After taking a 8-0 lead after one inning, my offense went really sour. Zorba eventually made it an 8-7 game in the mid-innings. After putting up a few runs later in the game, I ended up winning.
Lips - 13 runs, 8 homers
Zorba - 7 runs, 6 homers
Lips (1-0)
Jason (0-0)
Nick (0-0)
Zorba (0-1)
Game two goes to Jason, 17-7 slaughter in the 8th inning. Jason does get the honor for the first strikeout of the season, and we have him on tape. 13 dingers for Jason to 6 for Nick, including one with Bob Boone...
Records:
Jason 1-0
Lipitz 1-0
Zorba 0-1
Nick 0-1
Well, Game 3 of the qualifier is over. It was a quick one. Zorba was Boston, while I was Detroit. I finished Zorba off in 3 innings, 10-0. There was a sweet call on my part...which was really fun, and of course I yelled my head off (see Ghosts 'N Goblins). After Zorba got a hit with Clemens...I went ahead and predicted a triple play with Armas...
And what do you know, Armas grounds to third for the triple-play. Dee-Nee!!!!
Lipitz 10 runs, 5 homers
Zorba 0 runs, 0 homers
Lipitz (2-0)
Jason (1-0)
Nick (0-1)
Zorba (0-2)
Another new first at the dee-nee house, as Nick disqualifies himself for tossing the controller and resetting the game. Only down a run, Nicks gets into a double-play and didn't take it very well. I believe it was in the 5th inning. The powers-that-be aren't very happy with it as it screws up the scoring and drinking intake, but we are moving on...
Standings
Lips - 2-0
Jason - 2-0
Zorb 0-2
Nick 0-2
Zorba and Nick are up next...
Nick comes back from the controller toss to slaughter Zorba in six innings, 24-14. Zorb takes a quick 8-1 lead after one and gets hammered after that. His lack of experience showed in this one...
11 dingers for Nick to 9 for Zorb...
Records:
Jason 2-0
Lips 2-0
Nick 1-2
Zorba 0-3
Jason and Lips up now...
The first game between Jason and I is done. It was a mighty close one, but I edged him in 10 innings...16-14. And with that victory, a record was broken. Dee-Nee!!!! I broke Gantry's record of "Most runs in a Game where all runs are solo homers". I came out with 16 homers, 16 runs. It's been awhile since I broke a record, so I'm pretty happy about that. Anyways, here's the breakdown.
Lips 16 runs, 16 homers
Jason 14 runs, 12 homers
Lips (3-0)
Jason (2-1)
Nick (1-2)
Zorba (0-3)
When you introduce new members, you are bound to set a few records for futility. Last game was certainly that, as Nick (Bo) beats Zorb (Det) 6-5 in 10 innings. Ten innings, eleven runs... Nick was actually outhomered 4-3, but came through at the end. Zorba's fielding came back to haunt him in the bottom of the 10th...
Standings:
Lips 3-0
Jason 2-1
Nick 2-2
Zorb 0-4
Lips and Jason up next...
Dah-Nah!!!! I just suffered my first loss. I lost to Jason 29-23; it was a bad game, but oh well. It's OK. I just need to win one game against Nick, and I'll be in the real tourney. Nick will have pick of team, but that's ok. I'm gonna come out and slaughter his ass; yeah, that's right!! Anyways, here's the breakdown:
Jason: 29 runs, 25 homers
Lips: 23 runs, 21 homers
Lips (3-1)
Jason (3-1)
Nick (2-2)
Zorba (0-4)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After reviewing our footage. I mis-recorded the numbers.
No team homer records were broken. The stats were:
Jason: 29 runs, 21 homers
Lips: 23 runs, 20 homers
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was a quick one... Jason (Bo) slaughters Zorb (Det) 10-0 in three innings. Five homers to zero (obviously) for Jason, and he officially qualifies for the finals...
If Lipitz wins the next game, the series is over. If Nick wins, he and Lips play a final game for the right to the finals....
Standings:
Jason 4-1
Lips 3-1
Nick 2-2
Zorba 0-5
I hate these kind of forum post-websites. I hit the wrong button and my entire post was deleted. Anyways, I was a little upset with Nick. He didn't drink a single sip of beer this last game. Anyways, I beat Nick in 10 - I think. I know that I won, but I'm not positive about when. Anyways, Nick disappointed me...by not drinking a single sip of beer in our last game. I'm gonna forfeit my next game...because I'm so irritated with Nick. Anyways, I'm pretty drunk right now, but here are the standings:
Jason (4-1)
Lips (4-1)
Nick (2-3)
Zorba (0-5)
I must say that I am very content with my tourney performance. In my 4 wins I had 3 slaughters and a 29-23 victory. In my one loss, 16-14 to Lips, I had the chance to win. I was down 13-10 going into the bottom of the ninth I get 3 runs with only 1 recorded out. So I have to get 1 run to win with 2 outs to give....well 2 pop-outs and into OT we go where I eventually lose. I was in every game and everyone should be weary of me coming into the tourney. I think we have officially set the tourney date for 2 weeks from today.
My tourney:
High: (1)Scoring 29 runs against Lips.
(2)Getting Nick into a DP where Nick then threw his controller in a rage, giving me an automatic win. Let me set the table for that DP. Men on 1st and 2nd for Nick. Ground ball to 3rd, Nick thought I was going home with the throw so he ran back to 3rd at the same time I threw to 1st...he then preceded to run back home where I threw it home to get the DP. Nick threw the controller after he yelled "FUCK!". Just while I am typing this a 'slipper' came flying my way by Gantry. I guess he gave up a homer.
Low: Legit strikeout against Nick (inside pitch and I didn't back up far enough...my fuck up).
Anyways, I'll post again on this topic after the real tourney.
Vitb6 'out'
All I can say is...I'm very hungry!!!! Dee-Nee!!!!!! I can't wait for the "real" tourney. See you all soon!!!!
Dee-Nee!!!!
Ahhh, the morning after.
Yeah, I was wasted last night...being a little bitch like I could be. Bulldozing Potsie over, being the bad ass that I was, with my SpongeBob attire (visor, shirt and pants).
Well, the stage is set. The RBI Championship looks like it's gonna be on Saturday, May 3. Gantry, Jason, and I will take on the defending champion, Potsie.
Dee-Nee!!
My money is on Vit6..any takers?
Jason is definitely a gamer and is probably better at this point than Mark would have been (sorry sperling), but he still hasn't seen the big time. Last week's games were pushovers, as Nick and Zorba aren't top-flite players at this point. As a reference, I was about 10-0 against Nick and Zorb with Houston last week...
Another issue for Jason is going to be the drinking factor. We were being leinient on his intake on Saturday, but will be much harder on him next time....
But Jason has as good a shot as anybody...
