In both my series so far, I noticed that when faced with a high amount of lag the music was getting really choppy. Both times when I played I disabled the sound in FCEU and that helped quite a bit with lag.
Why don't we make the Straight Pitch RBI ROMs with the music taken out? Pretty sure nightwulf has an option for that. You can leave sound effects in but just get rid of the theme music. That should help a bit with lag...
Don't have time to check the editor, but I think we should test out a ROM with no music, but sound effects. That way you speed up the game yet can hear the fastballs and slowballs...
I play with the sound off anyways, so i'm up for it. Anything to make gameplay better.
I turned off the music on the "SP_Fantasy" ROM.
I left the music on for Between Innings, Home Runs, and Game Over.

Is that the ROM you and I used the other night? Because there was barely any lag...
But it still has the pitch sound effects, correct? That sounds perfect, I think everyone should use that one to see if it helps with lag....
Turning the sound off does put you at a disadvantage because you can't hear the fastballs and slowballs....

Actually, to be accurate, I should say that I don't even have speakers hooked up. I think I might dig some up and try it. I could use the help.
I can't play without the fastball sound. I've never been able to play muted (the game, not me).
It's more of a matter of conditioning...or maybe that's why I used to beat you so often... :)
You already have, pal....you...already...have. :-\

Yes, all the sound effects are left on. I just turned off the music that plays in the background during game play.
Thank you, Thank you.
I am the man that inspired nightwulf to do this after noticing lag relating to music. And I fucken could not stand listening to either of the 2 songs one more time.
Muting individual songs or sounds shouldn't have anything to do with lag, at least nowhere near as dramatic a difference as turning off sound emulation entirely. Even if all sounds are muted via the editor, the sound engine is still running, which is considerable overhead. I guess specific sound activity could have a considerable impact if you're playing on a 486.
Congrats on that "noticing lag relating to music" thing though.
Nightwulf
I wasn't actually serious
What about the Jose Phady RBI League? That blew...

That would explain why muting the songs didn't help as much as turning off sound in FCEU. Oh well, I prefer not to have the music anyway. Even if it dosen't help per se, not listening to the sound lag behind and play notes too fast/slow is worth it for me...
