Title: RBI Baseball in the News - 2/27/2005

Apparently, We're not the only ones pondering who will be the last RBIer to play in the majors (http://www.timesheraldonline.com/Stories/0,1413,296~31499~2735634,00.html).  From timesheraldonline.com:

Who will be the last player from "R.B.I. Baseball" to have a major league career?

For those of you who didn't experience it firsthand, the 1987 Nintendo game "R.B.I. Baseball" was the first-ever video game to use the real names and stats of major league players. With the retirement of Ellis Burks from the Red Sox, only four R.B.I. players remain in the league: 42-year-old Roger Clemens of the Astros; 44-year-old John Franco, also of the Astros; 39-year-old Benito Santiago, the Pirates' starting catcher; and 46-year-old Julio Franco, who still plays first base for the Braves. (Andres Galarraga, 43, was reportedly trying to make the Mets this year, but is not listed on their depth chart).

Of the four, Clemens seems the most likely to have a few years left, but he'll probably retire long before his arm gives out on him. Given Santiago's "young" age and the scarcity of talented catchers, he might just be the last to hang up his spikes.

I'm sorry, but i'd have to put my money on Julio.

Since the Astros have so little to offer on the NES version, I think that they should be obliged to keep an RBI player on their roster until they've all gone teats up.

They've already got Old man Clemens and John Franco.  It's their penance for being the worst team on the NES + Arcade versions

Nice article.  I have a hard time believing that Benito's 39 years old though, he's at least 75.

Yeah, he looked like he was 35 when he started.

This statement implies that you've seen "Ghost" at some point in your life. That's completely unacceptable...
