Ive decided to make 3 roms with all 30 mlb teams for 2003. I will use there opening day projections for starters and batting lineup (sports illustrated) and for ratings I will pull from WSB 2k3. Since all the skills for WSB are based on a 100 point system, for batting at least it should not be a problem, pitching will be slightly more difficult, but doable all the same.
Of coarse, one released, you will be free to tinker as you wish. Ill probably just change the team abbreviations for now. I also can change them on the "ten teams" of tengen league on game load, but it's not worth adding that to the task at hand.
I figured to balance the roster and stay true to the original, instead of having one rom with 10 al, 10,nl and then one with 4 al, 6 nl, it will be split down the middle as much as possible. And I know rivalries are cool, but it would be very hard to accomodate certin ones over others, so i will be using the final standings from 2002 to split the groups into "competitive divisions"
So far it looks like this,
Rom 1
New York Yankees
Oakland Athletics
Anaheim Angels
Minnesota Twins
Boston Red Sox
Atlanta Braves
Arizona Diamondbacks
St. Louis Cardinals
San Francisco Giants
Los Angeles Dodgers
--------------
Rom 2
Seattle Mariners
Chicago White Sox
Toronto Blue Jays
Cleveland Indians
Texas Rangers
Houston Astros
Montreal Expos
Philadelphia Philles
Florida Marlins
Cincinnati Reds
--------------
Rom 3
Baltimore Orioles
Kansas City Royals
Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Detroit Tigers
New York Mets
Colorado Rockies
Pittsburgh Pirates
Chicago Cubs
San Diego Padres
Milwaukee Brewers
I bacically made a list from the standings top to bottom for each league, then drew a line between 1-5 for each league, then 6-10, then the last 4 in the al, and the last 6 in the NL.
Let me know what you think,
Thanks
Sounds good, but I think batting would be just as annoying as pitching; nothing in RBI is based on a 100-point scale.
Contact: 0-255
Power: 0-65535
Speed: 0-255
Sinker ability: 0-15
Curve ability: 0-255
Sinker speed: 0-255
Curve speed: 0-255
Fastball speed: 0-255
Stamina: 0-255
Shouldn't be tough to come up with a formula to arrive at comparable stats tho. Who said algebra wasn't fun? ;)

Also would be good to make a list of the best and worst in RBI:
Contact:
Best - Tony Gwynn (4)
Worst - Marc Sullivan (38)
Power:
Best - Andre Dawson (954)
Worst - Rafael Santana (708)
Speed:
Best - Vince Coleman (148)
Worst - Tony Armas and others (118)
That's the hitter list. If you are going to do teams, I would try not to dip too far past those limits...
Following Gantry's advice, you can make a list of all the players you'll have on a rom and then have each player correspond with an existing RBI player. Such as: rename Reggie Jackson as Barry Bonds, rename Ozzie Smith as Ichiro Suzuki, etc. You'll need to copy the data for each player (minus the name data since it will be changed), which will be time consuming. But that way, you'll already be sure how well each of your players will perform. And you'll be able to have balance throughout the game, something that you lose if you make a rom with 30 Darrell Evans clones.
First rom is completed. Took longer then I thought. Anyway, I played it a couple times, feels like rbi.
I appreciate the advice, I used the letter grades when updating the skills. If you guys would like to "tweak it" be my guest, but I think I did a fairly decent job on it.
File attached. Let me know what you think.
Thanks
Won't have a chance to play it until I can get it burned on disc (I *hate* playing RBI on the PC), but looks good from the numbers. Seems to be balanced, with more power overall. Games should be more batter-driven than the original teams.
If anyone cares to see, the lineups and stats are attached.

what does Un1 and Un2 mean in the pitching abilities?
Unknown 1 and Unknown 2. Two fields, both 0-255. To date, we have no idea what effect these fields have on gameplay.

Thanks for the good news nightwolf. If your happy with it, that makes me happy with it. Heres a thought I had about what you said about the power numbers, I could be wrong, but what do you think?
The first rom is a compilation of the very best teams from last season. Most of them have pretty much the same players this year, so talent wise it appears even, which is what I was shooting for. However I think as I complete roms 2 and 3, it will become even more balanced, as the quality of the players will drop slightly. There will still be guys hitting home runs, but no more teams like the yankees. I will be working on rom 2 today, and possibly 3 as well. I want to get the rosters and names changed on the roms, then work on the attributes. Once that is completed, I would like to try and post all the roms together in one file, and maybe you could pull the stats for each rom for me to include in the zipped file. Not that it will be needed, but also the original instruction manual.
What do you think?
I have completed the first rom in it's entirety. The second and third rom have the rosters with stats, team colors, abbreviations, and team names updated. All that is left for me to do is the player ratings for the last 2 roms, and we will have 3 roms holding all 30 mlb teams with up to date rosters, lineups, and attributes. (10 on each rom) Im calling it "RBI Baseball 2k3" (since i used WSB 2k3 to get the attributes) I am thinking about making a small site dedicated to the 3 roms, shoing players, attributes, and a small "pre-season" scouting report on all the teams from before the season. Ill let you know when I have completed the ratings for the last 2 roms, and more info on a possible website for the collective game.
Thanks
clyton,
Nice ROM. Looks like you put some good work into it.. Looking forward to the other two. Just played a little of the Giants-Dodgers RBI 2K3 style.
Check out my site at www.dodgerssuck.com (http://www.dodgerssuck.com).

Good effort so far... When you get all the ROMs done, I'll be sure to add them to my ROMs page.
Also, if you want to have your own website to discuss the ROMs, I'll provide free hosting via http://rbicentral.com (http://rbicentral.com)
Just played a game off your 2k3 ROM, you did a great job! Good job with all the name editing. Two things I noticed:
1) The Oakland team colors need some changing. I think it's the white eyes, but they are hard to look at
2) I played against Atl, and Maddux threw 100 against me. That's a little too fast for Greg...
Don't take these the wrong way, you did a hell of a job. Looking forward to the other ones, and I'll definitely put them on the ROMs page
Edit - While playing your ROM, the computer couldn't get to a ball on the left field wall. It was pretty funny watching them all move, the pic is attached:
1- Ill change the oakland to more of a yellow. Not sure why i didnt do that to begin with.
2- The pitching you will notice is not right on with the speeds, but when you see how other guys throw, you will realize it makes sense. In the grand scheme of things, He's a better pitcher, so he naturally is harder to hit. You will see guys that probably throw in the lower 90's pitching in the 80's somewhere. RBI 2k3 will take after WSB 2k3 in the way that you can tell the difference between a pitcher with a good fastball, and a great rated one. Thats the best I can do for now.
3- The roms are completed. I played most of a game on the last rom, brewers vs. royals, and the score was like 6-4 through 6 innings. I was happy to see a fairly "realistic" score.
I also made a decent page for the game itself, It will have all the info needed. Im looking around for my user/pass for my league.rbicentral.com, as Ill just use the space you allready gave me. If you could send that over gantry, that would be cool. Ill post the roms in a new thread.
