hello
i'm a totally a noob in that case. i just downloaded a newer, but obviously not the newest, version of the FCE Ultra. It's version 0_98_10. I got it from a link in this forum. I want to play a game with my buddy but both of us have no idea of that stuff.
So now...when i go to network play, a window opens with remote host, where was already written "dee-nee.com" and the port 4046. Then i can choose Local players 1-4. What especially should i choose and what my buddy? and then theres a password space and Game key. where can we get passwords and type our nicks or register us to play online and what is the game key? is it actually the file name?
Thank you folks for help!

I no longer answer questions when the asker doesn't list where he's from--because I'm crazy with recruiting for our national tourney.
Hey, Ace. First, be sure to check out the Ohio National RBI Tournament (http://ohio.rbicentral.com/), hosted by JoeDirt (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?action=profile;u=241). It is going to be the coolest RBI event of the year, and a ton of fun.

You'll both need to have the same ROM file (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/roms/) for network play, so choose one and load it in the emulator. Make sure your friend has the exact same version as the emulatror as well.
Once loaded, open the "Network Play" screen, leave the server name (dee-nee.com) alone, change the username to whatever you want, and click the Connect button. Once the connection is established, have your friend do the same (with a different username, of course), and he will be connected as player 2.
Passwords aren't needed. Have fun.
Also, if you get a lot of "lag" while playing, you can try using this IP address instead of dee-nee.com: 209.242.26.125
Edit - Added plugging of Ohio tourney
damn you once again, nails!
When you go to Network play, you only need to have "www.dee-nee.com" typed in for the Host Name. You can leave everything else blank.
Once both you and your buddy do this while both haveing the exact same ROM open, you will be ready to go.
Whichever one of you connects first will be player 1, and the second to connect will be player 2.
Let me know if you need any other help.
Also, you will definitely want to get a controller, as playing on the keyboard blows ass.
My recomendation is to get a "Retro Pad". This IS the original NES controller but has an end to plug into your PC.
And if you're still having trouble with online play, go to this website.

Yes, it's a very informative website with complete details. Good call, BeeJay.
Really? I think that this Web site has much better information:
A better online RBI help site (http://www.tubgirl.com)
I think that should answer most of your questions.

Welcome to Dee-Nee Ace. Those links were pranks we're constantly trying to trick each other into looking at, sort of like an initiation.
Anyway, here's a real link from Dee-Nee.com about playing online.
http://dee-nee.com/rbi/faq.shtml#ONLINE
It's actually a simple thing to do, but there can be small problems that can make it difficult. Don't be afraid to ask for more help.
Damn, I had the trick post all done up and ready to go, but I just couldn't bring myself to subjecting an innoncent newbie like ace to the treachery that is tubgirl and lemonparty.
You guys are scallywags. . . scoundrals. . . . and over all great human beings.
ah...that's it. we managed to play with each other, but the game (we played contra) began to flag. is there a solution to avoid that?? i read in other threads here in this forum about a solution. someone wrote to diable the sound, but i haven't tried this yet with my buddy.
Referring to the link: i could bear it. no reason for me to get mad about it. it was just a little shocking...hehe.
up up down down left right left right a b start
thanks Baines, but i'm not really a cheater. i'll keep it for fun ;). it's no skill to finish a game wind cheats. i only reached the middle of level 6 since i've been playin'. the previous levels are quite easy. i wonder how many levels remaining. i'm sure, level 6 is only the peak of the iceberg, right???
yeah, there's only one known cheater on these boards...
if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin' hard enough.
i don't know what you mean by this. i reached the boss of level 6.

Contra is simple. I can beat it without getting shot once. The trick is to get the Spread gun in level on then "forgetaboutit".
Now, please talk about RBI some more.
ok, which rbi do you play? i just downloaded rbi 3.
I'm gonna let somebody else handle this one. Dove?
