- We're picking one date to do the draft, and blowing through it in a short period of time. Either we use the chat room/IM, or we do it like the Straight Pitch League draft. Either way, I'm not getting involved in a draft that lasts for days on end.
- Editing the videos and uploading them to the server was a really big pain in the ass, especially to do every game. I've been using VirtuaNES to simulate the games. The benefit here is that it records the games as a file that is usually around 120 KB. Instead of converting it into an AVI and then editing it and uploading it to the site, I could just upload the completed game files to the site, and anyone who wants can watch the game on their VirtuaNES emulator.
- Do we want to do the same thing as last year - i.e. chose players from the 10 teams from the NES game? Or, do we want to expand to include players from the Arcade game as well? Depending on how many people are interested in playing, we might need to expand the number of players to chose from.
- Any other thoughts on what we could do to keep it interesting? I suspect the season was too long last year, and interest waned a bit as it progressed through the playoffs.
- If the GMs from last year's league could let me know first if they are interested in participating again in a new season before new GMs throw their name into the ring, that helps give me a sense of interest, etc. I know that ShitPaw (obviously) won't be participating, and I may or may not depending on the need to open up slots.
Sincerely,
fightonusc
Fantasy RBI Baseball Commissioner
I am certainly interested, however it is decided to be will most likely be fine with me, I like changing it somehow just so it's a little different, if that means including Arcade players fine, may have a limit of 2 per team or something.
I like the idea of including arcade players, but bear in mind that it's going to make the commish's job harder - better players = longer games.
I also like the idea of a shorter season, and the VirtuaNES "videos".
i'll pay to get in
Reserve my spot. I'm definitely in again.
If arcade players are used there could be 2 leagues / divisions.
Inter league games would be impossible, but it would give it a more MLB feel.
Didn't we have this arcade discussion once before? Maybe it was some other fantasy/online rbi format, I really can't remember.
there could also be a set up of AL v NL
I was pretty hesitant to do it unless we absolutely have to (including Arcade players), but if there's no other way, that what will have to happen.
As for AL vs. NL - it's a bad idea. The NL players are not nearly as good as the AL. The AL "league" would have Bo, Ca and Dt to draw from, basically all the power teams.

And MN. They have 4 or 5 of the top 20 power hitters on the game.

Good point.
I guess the arcade players would not even things out at all.
What about two leagues, and each league uses the original RBI players? FightOn can run one, someone else can run the other, and the World Series is a matchup of the winners of each league.
(I don't think is my idea - I'm pretty sure somebody else suggested this last time this was discussed.)
Well, whoever's idea it is...it's a real good one. Someone is gonna have to volunteer to help usc if the league gets that big, though. It sure as fuck ain't gonna be me. ;)
fix you aviator, mcclane.

All I see is a beautiful Rushmore pin.
I'll play if mclane pays for my entry fee.

GDavis, check your PM bin and get back to me.
how much is said entry fee?
one cool aspect would be to be able to freeze maybe two or three players on your team and a pitcher. this would speed up the draft and also give a real feeling of ownership to the teams. and i mean, hey, if i can't keep bell and gooden, what do i have to live for?
I'd be down for it again even though my team totally crapped the bed this time.
I want in. You should make A.L vs N.L.
You could even do interleague play by doing quick team swaps with nightwulf's editor. And Fighton - I just wanted you to know your definitely the coolest guy on the board.

You know that there is no actual playing in this type league.
I could be way off, but I'm thinking the league is all computer vs. computer match ups.
I know its computer vs. computer, I am totally cool with that.

Reading is overrated.

Ditto.
GDavis - Are you serious about wanting to get in on this? I understand the jooke about calling out fknmclane about the entry fee, but let me know if you're up for participating.
JosePhady - Are you going to be on the board enough to warrant inclusion in the league? It's less fun if there are people who aren't around much who are part of the league.
Anyone else interested in joining who hasn't spoken up yet?
I'll play.
I'll join.
I definitely want in. Thanks
If it's free, I'm in too.
I come to this board every night I'm totally gonna be around more often.

thats what they all say and then before you know it, our baby is born. you're struggling to make ends meet, you have to find a second job, put your baby in daycare and then you go on foodstamps. then it's off to court to make you pay child support.
I dont know about all this talk about the AL being so much better than the NL. Doc, Tudor, and a much better all-star team make the NL pretty solid. Besides, its often the little guys who shine in a world series match up. Didnt Scott Brosius win a WSMVP. Why cant Danny Heep or Al Pedrique?
btw Baines ... I love the Chris Sabo 1991 Donrus Diamond Kings card. A personal favorite of mine.
Whats up with the season?
Bumpst. It's time to do this fucker again.
OK, we have six of the eight participants from the previous Fantasy RBI season confirmed to come back for this upcoming season:
- fightonusc
- fknmclane
- Teddyballgame
- defen
- Beefmaster
- Ultimate7
(I've excluded ShitPaw and GreatScott from this season because they've basically gone MIA since then).
This leaves us with a maximum of four spaces remaining (assuming we have 10 teams in the league, and don't have a group of free agents to dip into. Invitations will be going out to those who have expressed interest in the next season, based on responses to this thread.
Updates to follow...
OK, add Ryno to the league as a new owner. One spot down, three to go...
Count me in.
Two more open spots, and two invitations are on the table to prospective new owners.
Shit, I guess I'll have to redo the Web page again...
in the worlds of ultimate, "thanks for not picking me"...but if your big shot invited prospective owners don't follow through, i'd like to do it.
i'll give er a try....even though I have no idea WTF to do
I too am interested and I'll take on GoReds in a knife fight if need be.
GoReds would use his time travelling abilities and ties to Lybian terrorists to kill you before you were born. I wouldn't mess with him.
You could easily take Ryno however.
i have a lot of fat for you to cut through.
I've got a big knife.
If you know what I mean.
I have expressed interest in this, as you can see early on in the thread. I would like in. When would the draft be?
I want in.
But I think its too late.
I want in as well, I'll double up with someone if need be.
Also, fuck JosephAdy for locking my fantasy hockey team and costing me valuable points from Robert Lang and never giving an explanation.
Fuck you JosephAdy.
Invitations have been accepted by Baines and Gerlost - so we're set with our 10 players:
- fightonusc
- fknmclane
- Teddyballgame
- defen
- Beefmaster
- Ultimate7
- Ryno
- Shooty Babbit
- Baines
- Gerlost
Adding more teams probably turns this into something that I can't do by myself - hopefully, we'll do this more than once a year in the future, and we can transition new players into the League. (If someone wanted to volunteer to run a AAA League featuring the people who didn't get into this League, that would be very cool - I'd be happy to help get someone set up to run it. Maybe the top two teams from that league could automatically be "promoted" to the Main League next season, while the bottom two teams from the Main League are "relegated" to the lower Division?)
For those who weren't invited - please remember that it was, by and large, done on the basis of who expressed interest first (with some exceptions. For example, Nails hasn't been around the boards for about a month, and I'm going to make sure to invite people that I trust will not flake out.)
New thread for the new League to follow...
Damn, it's been so long now that I forgot all the drafting strategies I was going to employ
I wish I'd have read this thread earlier.
Based on the subject, I'm not sure it would have mattered.
Yeah, I doubt it too...

Bump since this thread has fallen down to the 5th post and many people seem to have not read it.

I didn't look into the trade. I saw that One 0-rank was like 2, and the other was like 700. I assumed you were the same person sharing an e-mail address. I had no clue who joined from dee-nee. I later found out that He was a sick rookie, and I totally jumped the gun. I am asshole and I am sorry. I haven't been on much, so I never answered. Also, I thought it blew over by the time I saw it.
