This is kind of an offshoot from the Detroit Pinch Hitter thread.  I have always loved Chet (he's probably my favorite on Detroit).  However, in that thread, someone said that he's an automatic out.  I seem to think that Chet is one guy who people either really like, or they think he's crap.  Where do you guys stand on Chet?

By the way, with all of the love for "Lemon Party" here, has anyone suggested that Chet's nickname become

(Chet) Lemon Party?

I love the Chester Copperpot name, as a Goonies fan, but this screams Dee-nee

4th best on the team.  DaEvns, Brookn, and Gibby are better.  If Nokes had at least average speed, I would rank him above Lemon too.

I love Lemonparty.
However, to fully use his greatness, you must use the tettleton when he bats.

Trust me.

I think Lemon is a good bat on a team with several very good bats.  While I like Lemon and think he's dangerous, I'd rank the following Dt players ahead of him: Trammell, Gibby, Evans, Madlock...in my mind, he's probably a tad better than Brookens.

this guy drops some big plates. let him play ball. but if you take him out, his name immediately changes to chet "lemme in." so we're talking serious decisions here. nicknames are half the game.

I believe Trammell may be slightly over rated.  He IS the second best (natural) lead-off man on the game (to Raines), but detroit is stacked with power.  Other than an edge on speed, he doesn't have a ton going for him.  Lemon definitely does better for me, and Lemon has 51 more power points than Trammell.
Also, other than the first AB for Madlock, Lemon is clearly a better hitter.  Only Gibson, Brookn, and DaEvns have more power than Lemon.

I like Chet.  He's usually the last one I think of on Detroit though.  I'm not very consistent with him compared to others on that team.

Trammell is a fucking beast.

Lemon Party Chet is a damn good player. . . . at least 12 times better than the bag of ass known as Matt Nokes.

thank you ryno....nokes is a bag of ass. i've given him so many chances in the past, in the clutch, and he has cost me both pride and money. i now do not hesitate for a second to sub in sheridan for him.

The one thing Nokes is good at is hitting bases empty HRs. Usually he hits a dong for me after Evans went yard.
That's it. Don't let anyone be on base or he'll fuck up

I'm a fan of Chet - he always seemed to deliver for me.  I never even briefly considered taking him out.

by the way, to change things up a bit, what sometimes makes for a decent game is both teams have to use all subs for their best players (best players determined by opponent). it changes the dynamics of every team. think about minnesota. they lose the 2-3-4-5 spots for that nasty ass bench...

Chet is the fucking man.  He's overshadowed by Brookens, Trammell, Gibby, Evans and Nokes, but he's no slouch.  Plenty of pop, with a little more than the average 6 hole hitter.

I don't understand all the hate for Fatty Nokes.  The guy does nothing but hit bombs for me.

I agree that Nokes is great.  I think people just may be turned off by the fact he is slow.
Just by looking at his stats, he can best be described as either a left handed Ripken or a slow Don Mattingly.

When Fatty's hitting bombs over the scoreboard, he can run as slow as he wants for me...

I am the first "suck" vote I guess.   Lemon just doesn't do much for me.  That being said, I have started letting him play about half the game.  All depends on the situation, but Lemon is just an anchor for me with a runner on first.  If the bases are clear, he plays all game.  If it's a tight game and there's a chance for a clutch dinger, it's all Bergman...

I used to have Bergman come in immediately for Lemon and I know admit that it's a dumb idea...

He was a southside hitman when I was a 0.5 years old. That is a uni that needs to comeback.

Edit - Attached pic instead, wasn't showing up.  Gantry
