Title: CG 2 hitter with Nolan
Post by: TbT on 04/05/05, 08:22:11 PM
played the AL on the nes and tossed a 2-hitter, with 9 K's.  Bell got a liner single in the outfield, that looked like i mighta been able to get it, and i think it was ripken that hit an opposite field homer......i just kept painting the outside corners on the righties and also staying on the outside away from mattingly and baines.

anyone ever toss a no-no? I suppose its possible since those hits occured in the 4th and 5th innings when ryan still had some gas.  Ryan was still around 45-50 in the 9th.

I've thrown a handful of no-hitters.  The best was Mets (Ojeda) vs San Francisco, with 0 strikeouts.  Against the CPU I usually just toss changeups on the corners.  If you're lucky, you don't get burned often and your pitcher can still be strong in the 9th.

Correction: I pitched a no-hitter with 26 K's from Sutcliffe against Ca, though I gave up 2 walks.

I can toss no hitters against the computer constantly...although it requires plenty of errors on my part...

I posted this a while back, but my friend no hit me with San Fran before, and I no hit someone else with St. Louis when the other guy was the Red Sox about a year or so ago...

One time I was losing in poker so I played RBI3 and got 27 strikeouts...although I gave up about 16 runs and in RBI3 you can use 5 pitchers, so it's not that great an accomplishment, but never-the-less, hope I added something to the conversation...

You should come to the tourney Tecmo ;)

Edit: Oopsy

Okay...I've thrown a hand full of no hitters...all against Riley--the 2004 COTUT champion.  He's thrown a handful against me--neither have ever attempted or thrown a no-no with only one pitcher for the whole game.

We've always played that a no hitter is an automatic extra $20 (a lot when we were kids)...so we'd never want to risk losing the no-no by being stubborn and keeping the starter in...

If I was ever to get no-hit by one of my friends, $20 would not hurt enough.   I would first kill said friend before anyone could be told.  Then I would stick pins in my eyes followed by me throwing myself into a pile of rusty saw blades. If still alive, I would find my way to the top of the Green Monster and suicide dive off of it onto the playing field.
...so if you find it odd that months go by w/o me posting, maybe someone no-hit me.

I was an out away from a perfecto against chubbrock. He brought in Garner and that fucking cocksucker laced a single.  Hatcher grounded out on the next pitch.  26 up, 26 down.  Then one fucking hit.  Honestly, if I had gotten Garner out, I think Chubbs would have retired from RBI forever.  I could see it in his eyes.

As for no-hitting the computer, I've never actually tried but I'm sure it's fairly easy.  I may have to fire up the ol' NES right now...

We've discussed this several times before, but I've thrown a ton of no-hitters (sutcliffe, ryan, clemens are especially easy to do it with), many perfect games, and on (I think it was Ryno's) challenge, actually threw a perfect perfect game (27K's) with Ryan against the Mets.

wow interesting stuff....perfect/perfect game w/27 K's.  i never really tried to toss a perfect game vs the computer before as i usually simulate my moving the ball in and out as you would vs a human player, but that sounds like a hefty challenge.

Joe, quit being an asshole.

I threw a no hitter in the ady league.   It was a hitter friendly ROM, but still not the "real thing."

kudos on the CG --- that's pretty tough in itself.

Why do I have to quit being an asshole?  Maybe I really am just an asshole, 'cause I didn't think I was being an asshole.  Isn't that how all assholes are?

Colonel Sandurz: He's an asshole sir.
Dark Helmet: I know that! What's his name?
Colonel Sandurz: That is his name sir. Asshole, Major Asshole!
Dark Helmet: And his cousin?
Colonel Sandurz: He's an asshole too sir. Gunner's mate First Class Philip Asshole!
Dark Helmet: How many asholes do we have on this ship, anyway?
[Entire bridge crew stands up and raises a hand]
Entire Bridge Crew: Yo!
Dark Helmet: I knew it. I'm surrounded by assholes!

Kudos to you, Joe.  The first step in overcoming your problem is admitting that you have a problem  :P

The whole concept of no-hitters draws ire on both sides on the debate.  There are some who won't respect any sort of no-no and consider it more of a condemnation of your opponent than praise for the winner.  But if JoeD and Riley can no-hit each other, then that is saying something as they both can ball...

Don't get me wrong--it's very rare...but it does happen every now and again...we're more likely to two hit each other...
