Title: Best Highlight
Post by: ultimate7 on 04/08/05, 12:28:34 PM
OK, I went with the most famous ones in my mind.  No other option choose one from the list or don't vote.  My pull, lots of good choices.

Found links to a few on youtube, if you have any more links please post and I'll add to the first post.

Gibson HR:

How the hell did the Dave Henderson/Donnie Moore HR not make the list?  It cost Donnie his life but it's not good enough for your precious puhl?

I am boycotting this puhl out of respect for the deceased.

This is hard.

My favorite highlights to watch would be Ryan beating ventura, Canseco's bonk off the head, and Dawson's beaning.

The most amazing of them all, though is that play by Ozzie Smith

I went with Gibson.

I was 11 years old and pulling for the Dodgers.  I remember telling my folks that the Dodgers could pull it out.  They didn't have faith like I did.

I distinctly remember jumping up and down when Gibson went yard.  I called my buddy (who was a huge eckersly fan) to talk about the home run and even he was excited about that play / game.

I didn't really give a crap for the A's or dodgers, but I really got into that series.

hJose put a dent in a CF camera that game, right?  It was a grand slam, too.

I agree, not easy, I love the Ryan beating and I could watch that HR off Canseco's head over and over.  Gibby's HR is classic, that play by Smith is the best defensive play I've ever seen in MLB.

I went with the Nolan Ryan/Robin Ventura "noogies" fight. Seeing some athlete in his prime get his ass kicked by an old man is as good as it gets.

I second that.  I'd love to see some of these again.  I tried to find the Ryan/Ventura video a few months ago but came up empty handed.

All of these are great.  I had a tough time deciding between the Ventura beating and Kirk Gibson (finally went with Kirk).  This should've been one of the multi-select polls.

I HAD to vote for George Brett coming out of the dugout like he had a rocket up his ass.  I could watch it over and over again.  The best by far.

I think the video with Ryan beating Ventura was posted on here awhile back.  I really should be archiving more of this shit, I'm too fucking lazy.  Then again, it's likely in the attachment manager somewhere...

we forgot about jack clark trucking mike scoscia at the plate.  anybody else remember that one?  scoscia held on to the ball though, and clark was called out.  scoscia was just knocked out.

I don't remember the Ozzie play, can someone refresh my memory?  If it was barehanded, did he go into the hole and catch and throw in the same motion?  I just can't picture this play.

EDIT:  I found a description of it in the other thread.  I kinda remember it, but I'd love to see it again.

Is this the one when he was still with SD?  I have heard about this play, but I have never seen it.

Title: Attention SMITH PLAY SOON!!!!!!!!

Fox Sports Net is counting down the top defensive plays in MLB history, just showed the Puckett catch, the Smith play will certainly be coming in soon.

Damn, I've got the Marlins on here.  I'm guessing you're talking about the Sports List.  I watch that show sometimes just to see Summer Sanders, who I've had a crush on for years.
Title: Re: Best Highlight

Yeah, sports list, I'm sure they'll show it again.  Ozzie's play was #1, Kirby's #5, they also show Mitchell's barehanded catch, as a special mention sometime during the top 5.

don't forget, that mitchell's foul-barehanded catch came off the bat of ozzie smith.

I remember watching that game as a child.  I was about 6 years old or so, staying at my aunt's house for the night.  I'm surprised I remember it.  Perhaps I could consider this one of my earliest childhood memories.  That is awesome/sad.

Yet nobody praised me for selecting her in the babe draft.   I'm also annoyed that Nacho read this thread and didn't comment on Summer Sanders.  We always used to talk about her being hot back in college.

PS - I voted for Gibson.  That is one of the best sports moments ever.  EVER!

All the ones that got votes are certainly the best ones, I could have gone with any of those, but I'm suprised that Mitchell's catch got 3 votes, I don't think it compares with the other 5, I'm also suprised no one voted for the ball through Buckner's legs
Title: Re: Best Highlight

I didn't catch the Summer Sanders quotation.  Somehow, she has never aged... I thought she was hot as a kid, and she looks the same now.

Also, I didn't know that Strassy took her in the Babe Draft.  I commend you.

There is something about being on Nickelodeon that seems kinky to me... Watching her on a kids show only makes me think things like, "Damn, if those twelve year olds only knew that she probably sucked a dick less than 12 hours ago or so...."

I need psychological help.

they are showing a special on the Gibson homer on ESPN classic right now.  i still don't know how you can't vote this as the best highlight.  i have always sort of had a soft spot for the dodgers, and i think this is why.
