My bad spelling my boy Lenny D's name incorrectly...ghetto laptop. What would an RBI discussion be without a glitch.
However, he is one of two player's in Tengen's National League to homer in his first major league at-bat.
Q1: Can anyone name the NES RBI player to homer in his first MLB at-bat????
Hint: It was off of an overatted Tengen hurler, N. Ryan.
Q2: Ironically enough, Dykstra's MLB debut at-bat homer came off a pitcher in the Atari League. Can you name this hurler????
The correct answers will be posted on Friday July 5th.
Great page fellahs. Keep up the good work.
Santana level?
Without cheating and running to google, I'm thinking Will Clark homered in his first AB. Robby Thompson rings a bell too....
As for Dykstra, I have no clue. Mario Soto is my terrible guess...
I will post the correct answers on Friday. I will also try to develop some more trivia questions and promise that it will all be my mine and not from another Online source.
Still trying the play short like Santana
My guess for HR off first AB is Cal Ripken.
I dont know atari version so no guesss for Q2
i know cal ripken did it...hitting home run that is...and ill guess that dykstra hit his homer off of lee smith....i dont even know if hes on the game, but he should be...
i know the first one is will clark for sure, but i have no funking clue about the second question. sutcilffe perhaps?
well micz, where's the answers... you are late.
Trivia answers:
Will Clark off the Ryan Express in the Astrodome.
And Dykstra's was off of the fireballer Mario Soto. It is my opinion that Nails's first MLB ab negatively affected the rest of his career. His bomb off Soto made him believe he was a power hitter. This macho head and too many muscles for his frame led to an undercheivement in career BA and OBP, in addition to a rag arm, a la Bret Butler. However, his audacity born in the bomb off Soto made for some great October clutch performances (ask C. Kernfeld on the Tengen Stoh's-- '86 NLCS game six in the 10th inning) and outstanding reckless adbandonment catches in centerfield (see brick wall at Wrigley--Atari League).
You know who I'm starting Lenny D over Mookie in my 2 of 3 series on the Upper East side.
micz
Wow, I can't believe I got Mario Soto correct, that was a total stab in the dark...
Potsie just informed me that Gary Gaetti also hit a dinger in his first AB, and the Internet confirms it...
Digging the trivia...
you gotta love the rat... he is going to be the next rbi legend to become a major league manager...mark that one down.
