As usual I will begin my post with a word of praise to all Dee-Nee trues. What a privilige to be an up and coming member of what is clearly the greatest community on earth, at least when concerning their primary causes of RBI/beer. That being said, can someone brief me on DreamCast emulation as I would like to get into it. How do I hook it up and what are the ad/disads of that method? Any info you post would be appreciated and may lead to more specific questions.
Thanks,
DOVErbi
Head on over to http://www.dcemulation.com (http://www.dcemulation.com), they will have everything you need. You want to download and burn NesterDC, this is a CD-ROM that will boot in your dreamcast. Once booted, you can make another CDR of ROMs to play in a \games folder....
Thanks for the point in the right direction gantry, by the way it seems that there are several nes emulators to choose from. Which is your preferred one?
Thanks
For god's sake doveRBI, I know for a fact that you are getting married in 3 days. Perhaps you should put that controller down and focus on the wedding.

NesterDC, though you may want to wait after the honeymoon. Impressive dedication though. Link:

If that's true it's F'ing hilarious
Men we have been gifted with two sides to our brain for a reason. I use one side to please my lady friend and do her right... the other half is dedicated to doing my rbi/beer/videogame/messageboard duties. To slack on either half would be a travesty and an injustice to the complexity of the human machine and its capabilities. Note to self, do not yell DEE-NEE! during sexual relations. Our buddy Linds made a similar mistake once and got cut of for 2 months.
You sir are a man with your priorities straight, I commend you!

Now, that's priceless.

I'd like to nominate the above for dee-nee forum quote of the year, if such a thing exists.
Anyway, stick with NesterDC. The compatibility isn't 100%, but it's very high, and runs all three incarnations of RBI without error. The easiest way to go about setting things up is to burn one of the self-booting images you can find at dcemulation, and burn a second disc with ROMs. The ROMs disc is burned like any other disc you'd burn files to. Just make a top-level directory "games" and throw all your ROMs there.
It's possible to burn the ROMs and emulator together on one disc, but if you're not familiar with DC disc structure, it's not worth the hassle.
