Title: NEW ROM - Best Teams of the 1990s
Post by: MarquisEXB on 06/04/03, 01:04:18 PM
I can't believe I finshed this rom so quickly, but here it is. I'm calling it release .01, because I'm sure to find something that is wrong or needs tweaking. Please tell me if you find something wrong, so I can fix it. All the ratings are included in a text file.

I will be testing it out today.  ;D

Mike

The Best Teams of the 1990s.

90 Reds
90 As
91 Twins
92 Jays
93 Phillies
94 Expos (strike season)
95 Braves
95 Indians
97 Marlins
98 Yanks

Replay the 90 World Series: can the Nasty Boys & the Reds sweep the A's with Rickey, Big Mac, and Canseco again? Can you close out the 9th with Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams? What would have happened to the Expos if there was no strike? Are the '98 Yankees the greatest of all time? Be all your 90s favorites, in 8 bit form.

This should be cool. Now I can re-live one of the most traumatic sports events of my life. I won't make the mistake Jim Fregosi made, though. Wild Thing stays in the pen, Tommy Greene in for the save.

I hate Joe Carter.

This actually sounds really cool, too bad ROMs perform like crap on my PC

Innagurial games have been played. Game 1 Billy's Toronto jumps ahead to a 8-2 over Mike's Phillies. The Phillies slowly climb back and make it a respectable 8-6 loss. The first home run is hit by Joe Carter, while the first walsie is also hit in this game, by Maldonado. In game 2, Mike gets revenge with the Indians, 10-1. Billie announces during this contest that the Twins "suck".

Worked for me vgp, make sure you unzip it first...

Nice job on the opening stuff!!  I like how you edited the opening ball.  I'll have to give it a shot later today.  Lips you coming home?

That's crazy. I even deleted it and downloaded it again. All the other roms work too. Frustrating!

Marquis you are the fucking man!  I just played 1/2 an inning with Florida and playing with guys I forgot about like Bobby Bonilla is a lot of fun!  Keep up the good work.

When I click on the ROM after I DL it, it says that explorer needs to search for the file that made the program, or something like that.  But I just move the ROM into my ROM folder of my JNES emulator and it works fine.  I didn't unzip anythinig.  Am I doing something wrong?

Nah, you're doing nothing wrong.  It sounds like you don't have zip software on your computer, which surpises me.  But foruntately JNES can play zipped ROMs, meaning you don't have to unzip them first....

The Dreamcast is getting hooked back up and Lips and I will be trying out home run derby and best of the 90s later tonight...

Alright, let me know how it is.  I wish I would have known I would have come over.  Today was my day off and I was actually going to stop by but I had to see 1 Lasik patient today at 5:00 in Gurnee!!  With traffic and stuff I was too lazy to drive to your house.  I'm buggin' for some more speed!

Marquis, is there anything different about this rom and RBI2002 v3. These are the only ones giving me problems when I try to load them on Nesticle. I really wnat to play 1990's RBI.

Nick and I played 5 games on the ROM, using all the teams.  Great job Marquis.  Some things I noticed:

1)  The end paper names were from the original RBI - I'll probably go ahead and change those for you.

2)  Minnesota was grey and red, kind of like Boston.  Not sure if they changed their unis, but the original RBI ones would probably be more fitting...

3)  The end paper team names were black boxes, not quite sure what's up there.  Perhaps there is a second set of tiles/graphics for the end paper.  I never tried editing those, but it's definitely possible...

It was a fun play though, keep up the good work!

Thanks so much! Works great!
Title: New Version
Post by: MarquisEXB on 06/15/03, 12:08:14 AM
Hey I found what was making the end graphics all messed up. My utility that imports data was overwriting a little more than it should have. So here is a version with it fixed.

I still haven't edited the newspapers, because I don't know the names of the original teams. Also I'm not sure if I will change Minny's uniforms. I need to see all of them to make sure they don't conflict & my editor doesn't do that & RBIBM doesn't do the 96K file.

Anyway here is the 1990s rom, v02.

What exactly do you mean by "I still haven't edited the newspapers, because I don't know the names of the original teams."   I can go ahead and put the newspaper teams in for ya, just let me know...

Well I don't know where they are in the rom. I have the team introduction names (the names that come up if you don't hit any buttons on the game - before the demo game comes on). As soon as we're done, we just hit reset, so I don't know what the names are that appear on the newspaper.

If you know where the are in the rom, please let me know. I'd like to be able to fix them myself if needed to.

I just gave this rom a try and right away I noticed a HUGE mistake - at least if you are a Cleveland Indians fan.  Carlos Baerga was NOT on the Indians in '97.  He was traded to the Mets in '96.  Tony Fernandez was the starter for most of the season and in the World Series.

Carlos Baerga: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ari/team/ari_player_stats.jsp?playerid=110427&club_context=ari (http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ari/team/ari_player_stats.jsp?playerid=110427&club_context=ari)

Aaron - chill, dude.  If you'd go back and check Marquis' post with the ROM (which you had to do to actually get the file), you'd notice that it's the 1995 Indians, not 1997.  Baerga is a perfectly appropriate second baseman.
