Not sure if you guys have already discussed this topic, but here's my 2 cents:
5 Most Underrated RBI Players:
1. Dickie Schofield-yes believe it or not, i think this kid's got skillz. and for some reason, makes amazing defensive plays. clutch with runners in scoring position.
2. Rich Gedman-for those in the know, he gets plenty of props. great power hitting. fattens up the bottom of that sox lineup.
3. Jim Lindeman-perhaps the best "non-red-sox" pinch hitter in the game. can't tell you how many times he has burned me, when i'm on the mound.
4. Ken Dayley-great complement to Tudor out of the pen.
5. Rick Burleson-terrific coming off the bench in the late innings for that Pettis-leadoff spot.
Good picks Dennis... I'll add five new ones:
1) Harry Spilman - The best pinch hitter in straight-pitch RBI. Not as good in curves, but still produces. I crush with him and Potsie has started to realize the power of Spilman.
2) Randy Bush - Another top-tier pinch hitter that doesn't get much mention. Stick him in for Gladden and watch the homers. Decent speed too...
3) Willie McGee - Fugly has been getting mad homers for me lately and has very good speed. The best lefty on the Cards, though that isn't saying much...
4) Jeff Reardon - Don't hear much about him, but this prick shuts me down for 2 innings everytime I play against him in curves. My ignorant vote for top reliever...
5) Mike Heath - The professional hitter seems to go get a hit or homer everytime we use him, yet he only gets about 1ab every two games...
1. tim laudner is much better than his .215 average indicates.
2. i concur with gedman... he is clutch.
3. doug decinces is good in the two spot but does hit into a ridiculous amount of double plays.
4. o'doyle rules is better than he gets credit for... as long as he is getting the corners, he is effective.
5. jeff reardon doesnt get any love but he is nails in the late innings with his cutter.
here goes my list
1) by a longshot--tom brookens...this guy can flat out hit...everything is hard....the glasses are great...the mustache is unquestionable.....this guy is top 10 in the game despite his numbers
2) Rupert jones--not to be in the starting lineup, even on a potent angels team, is a crime
3) Mike Heath--a professional hitter...a master of the clutch hit
4) go go gedman--sure, hes slower than my grandpa's bowels, but the guy is certianly clutch
5) Lindeman--"fuck you b, ill do it my own way" leading directly into a grand slam won me over...

I'd have to go with the following:
Harry Spilman - Just looking at the guy's stats, I have to admit that i'd played RBI since 87 and never put him in until we discovered this site in the past year. If it wasn't for Dee-Nee, I would have lived my whole life never realizing the potential of Harry Spilman
Jim Lindeman - An absolute beast off the bench for the Cards, clutch as hell too
Davey Lopes - Blazing speed and will occasionally surprise you with a dinger in his 1st at bat... a bright spot in a piss poor Houston lineup
Harold Baines - Slow as fuck, limited power for a guy with his numbers but a sentimental favorite... will surprise you with late inning heroics sometimes
Bob Boone - I know this is going to be an unpopular selection but I have to stand by him. I think SalBando and I are the only people in the world that he produces for but he's been flat out getting it done for a couple months now

Anyway, my list (curve, of course) is:
Brookens...too bad he hits 8th...to not walk him is to not respect him.
Lindeman...guy is aces. every bit as tough of an out as Lil Jackie Paper. I support the notion of subbing Lindeman in for Herr--just to get two bombers in the line up back-to-back.
Laudner...the only bright spot in a bad part of the line up.
Heep...will send the ball into orbit every time.
Madlock...good stats; good hitter. Only on this list because generally speaking, the patrons of this site show little love for Madlock--he had his own detective tv show, for cryin' out loud.

Davy Lopes: one of the few redeeming qualities of Houston. Second fastest guy in the game. If he gets on, your opponent is in trouble.
Garner: another brightspot fo Houston. Serious power when subbed for dipshit Walling.
Lindman: probably my favorite RBI player behind Tony Pena, Chubbrock's archnemesis. Lindy can bomb with the best of them.
Tony Pena: as Gantry would say, this guy is a family friend (I hope I'm using that correctly.) Gotten me through many a battle with Chubbs.
Spilman: thank you, Gantry.
honorable mention: Madlock. I hate Brooken.
1) I like Don Sutton as a SP, even though he has little speed.
2) I agree with the Tom Brookens call
3) Chili Davis is overlooked many times, but I feel he's the best player on SF (maybe other than Will Clark)
4) Rob Wilfong is money off the bench
5) I also agree with the Dave Lopes call. He's a good spark for a lifeless Houston team

I like your other 4 picks, but I have trouble considering Chili underrated. He's great, but I think everyone knows it.
Chili hits in the 7 spot, which is where I would consider him overlooked. Usually Will Clark, Kevin Mitchell, and even Harry Spillman get talked about on SF. I don't know how much other people like Chili, but he's one of my favorites. I could be wrong on how others view him
Chili Davis is one of my all-time favorites. He's got huge power from the 7 hole and also happens to be a lefty. Plus his name is Chili. I think (I'll have to check) he's on my all time team, batting second.
On the dee-nee ratings page almost everyone has Chili as the #1 CF and #1 7 hitter in the game, and some had him in their top 10 RBIers.

I'll officially take Chili off my underated list and add:
Billy Hatcher. Billy has always been solid for me when using Houston. I know he's not a popular selection, but I guess that's the point of this thread
Wow, that's a suprising choice. I was beginning to think that I was the only person that didn't pinch hit for Hatcher. I usually leave him in the lineup.
I had a stint where I played only with Houston against the computer, just for a greater challenge (which didn't produce much challenge anyway). Hatcher and Lopes were always solid for me, though. Dickie Thon would get honorable mention.
Glenn Davis would go as most OVER-rated according to his stats. False sense of security when he steps up to the plate with a man on!

I love the recent "RBI thread recycling" that's been going on...it's good to have some RBI discussion.
1. Wilfong- He has shitty numbers and is about as ripped as Dicki Thon(g), but he has a clutch bat.
2. Lemon- Everybody's second favorite fruit, but he is first in my heart. Not really, but he is quality...a good amount of homers.
3. K. Bass- I think he is tits compared to the other Assholes.
4. Hendu- A good replacement for Billy Buckner...good power and decent speed.

I can't stand Billy Hatcher. I think he's awful and never sees an at-bat. But on EDavisFan and Ultimate's recommendations, I'll let him see a couple of AB's before giving him the ax.
I'll get an occasional homer from Hatcher, plus he's fast, but I have trouble getting any infield hits with him because he's righty.
1. Julio Franco-very clutch off the AL bench or as a substitute for Randloph at the top of the order
2. Curt Ford-he's got way more power than the 3 Hrs would indicate
3. Howard Johnson-Hojo is money from the left side-if he doesn't hit a bomb, its a guarenteed lefty hit
4. Alan Ashby-Always the most potent hitter in that Houston lineup, Davis sucks!
5. Tim "Don't call me Ellis" Burks-hits for crazy power off the bench, plus he can steal bases
As for Hatcher, I always leave him in but basically only cause he was on the 1990 Reds. Same thing with Doran but he tries my patience sometimes and gets yanked in the 4th or 5th.
