In my league of ten teams, five of us (2 using one computer, 2 using another, and 1 on his own) can barely play with the amount of lag it gives us in the past 3 or 4 days. It's to the point where we can see the pitcher wind up and then before we know it we're struck out.
Does anyone know any settings any of us can change or any other NES Emulators that work well with online play? If you do, please respond.
Thanks,
;) PREZ ;)
A few different emulators support online play to varying degrees, but unfortunately none of them are much better than any other. As far as things you can do, you'll obviously want to keep your bandwidth fairly clear. Download streams usually aren't a problem, but many users have draconian limits on their upload stream. No BitTorrent downloading, no running servers of any kind.
It could just be that the server has been under a higher load recently, but only Gantry could answer that.

In my experience, if you wait until after midnight, the lag is very tolerable.
Sorry, but this is all I have to offer :P
Have you tried using the second server? If dee-nee.com has lag, try potatoes.dee-nee.com
I've heard this site has an excellent server for RBI.

I thank all of you for the help, but Nightwulf, could you please explain to me what bandwith and NoBit Torrent D/L and all that is.... not too goood with computers ;) Also, potatoes.dee-nee.com wasn't working and it wouldn't connect the last couple of days.
PS. Bee-Jay, I already fell for that trick once in some other thread so it won't happen again ;).... Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

I'm not nightwulf, but I'll give it a try...
Bandwidth is the amount of data your computer can send or receive at one time. If you have other programs that use the internet running while you're trying to play RBI online, they'll all be trying to download stuff at the same time, and it'll slow things down.
BitTorrent is a file sharing program. Make sure you don't have it (or Kazaa or eDonkey or anything else like that) running when you try to play RBI, because it will be using the internet even if you aren't downloading anything at the time.
Guys, I believe it's called the "Internets"...get it together, people.

Right, using any p2p program while trying to play RBI online is probably a bad idea. I picked BT out especially because it uses much more of your upload stream.
Oh Gantry, I couldn't get a response from potatoes on port 4046 either.

I thank you guys for all the help, but I do not use a P2P program since the last one i used screwed my old computer to hell, and I always am sure to close IE and AIM every time i use FCEUltra... so I think I'm following the guidelines well...
One thing I have noticed though, is that if you DISABLE SOUND on the emulator, most ROMs run much smoother online... give it a try, it's not that hard to play RBI without the sound of that fly-ball!
Thanks,

PS. I've attatched the ROM in ZIP format for May 2005, as well as the Attributes in TXT format... please review and tell me what ya think!
