Title: Home Run by a pitcher.
Post by: PHole717 on 05/08/05, 12:32:36 AM
Perhaps one of the most rare things in RBI is a homerun by a pitcher. But it can happen. The only way for it to happen is if you hit a fly ball down the left or right field line, and have it hit the bottom of the wall where the foul pole meets the foul line. This is a homerun for everyone, but its the furthest a pitcher can ever hit.I was Boston, pitching with Roger Clemens and my brother was Houston pitcing with Danny Cox. Cox got up and belted one for a homerun. Yes, I should have had to drink 20 drinks after letting this happen. :)

I have the same reason which I will state explicitly.

Danny Cox is on the Cardinals.  You story is full of holes.  Poo-holes.

Okay so I messed up the team... big deal, do you want me to record every game I play and do it again? Seriously folks, did you see the glitch with Detroit turned into california, and Minnisota turned into houston pitchers? Anything can happen.

I have also hit a homerun with a pitcher. This pitcher was Brett Saberhagen.  I pulled a ball down the left-field line (on the line) and hit the base of the wall at the foul pole.  Of course, if you hit the foul pole (or the surrounding area) on the wall, the game will call a home run.  I don't think its possible to hit a ball that clears the wall with the pitcher, but it is possible to hit a home run by hitting the foul pole on the wall at the line.

yes, phole, you will need to record all of your games.

That is what the majority of us do.

We keep our RBI game library on Beta and VHS.  The tapes are located right next to your collection of midget and dwarf porn.

Most recent threads on pitcher homeruns:

Poll: Are pitchers capable of hitting homeruns? (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=6095.0)

Also, two ROMs have been created where all hitters have the same abilities as pitchers, in the hope of recording one on video.

Crazy ROM idea (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=5712.0)

Quest for the pitcher HR... (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=6353.0)

None have yet to be captured on video.  Although you'll find that several people have stated that they have done it.  Including Ryno.   :o

I record every pitcher at bat now. I just want it to happen so badly so I can show you all.

this pitcher hitting a homer thru the foulpole business prolly occurs once every million at bats for the pitchers, so you might be taping for quite some time.

i can believe it happens but would be way more impressed to see one actually clear the wall.

here is what one needs to prove a pitcher homerun:

1.  play on original NES, not famicom or some third party system.  i wouldn't even accept a ROM pitcher HR.

2.  use the licensed (gray) cartridge, or unlicensed (black) cart.

3.  record the game via VHS, either camcorder or feed the NES video through your VCR, or betamax.

4.  a witness.

5.  a sworn statement made by the hero and the witness, verified by a notary public--cannot be the witness.

6.  all the luck in the world.

sounds pretty simple to me, i can't believe it hasn't happened yet!

So if you did it yourself, would you believe without the above 6?

no one else would believe it.

Well, The only way I could record now would be with a ROM. But when I get my TV tuner for my computer, I will be able to record off of the Original NES.

Perhaps a similar reference to Aeris in Final Fantasy VII would illustrate the same point?  Granted you actually can with Gameshark, although I know of no codes to give the pitchers a power boost on the NES Game Genie...

I'd be happy to create that, though I'm not sure what good it would be other than surprising your friends.

Go back to the RBI 3 board Beej.

And also, I don't believe it...

But playing against/with the expos is sweet because you get to hear them play O' Canada

No topic on the RBI board causes more rancor than the pitcher dinger.  For those of us lifelong players who haven't seen it, we feel hurt and neglected.  We've paid our dues, had literally thousands of pitcher ABs and never gotten to the promised land.  Deep down in our hearts we know it's been done, but the conscious refuses to let go.  The only defense mechanisms we have are denial and ad hominem attacks.  This is our mantra, and we'll stick to it until the bitter end...
