Title: RBI Legend Irony
Post by: timm824 on 06/13/03, 09:55:31 PM
The German word for devil is Teufel.

But the RBI legend found God.

But Gantry is a Satan worshipper.

There's gotta be the meaning of life in there somewhere.

That's all I've got.

-New guy in Texas who stumbled on your website 9 hours ago trying to settle a bet as to whether Jose Cruz ever won a batting title (no, he lost one on the last day of the season) and have been entranced ever since.  Thank you.

That's some serious pondering after a few PBRs, most elegant indeed timm.  And welcome!

Is Teufel really the German word for devil?  I'll have some fun with that one.  Timmy Two Step might soon be "Nata Sevoli"

Thank you Sir.

I don't play RBI, but if I were ever on the $64,000 ?, my topic would be 80's baseball... so I appreciate you all and your time.

Building on the original topic, I paraphrase from an early-mid-80's SI blurb:

Teufel is German for devil; Gott is German for God.  So if the Twins utilityman ever hit a game-winner off the Blue Jays hurler to win the pennant, the headline in the next day's Der Berliner would have to read "Paradise Lost".

I've got a taste for livin', I'm drinkin' coooold Blue Ribbon; I've got Pabst Blue Ribbon on my mind.

That's all I've got.

Too bad Neitzsche or Bertrand Russell weren't beat reporters for SI during the potential Jim Gott vs. Tim Teufel matchup.   That would be an issue worth picking up!

PS - How does one searching on a Jose Cruz batting title end up on my site?  Google at its finest?

According to Yahoo, "Jose Cruz Houston Astro Hitting" returns that Gantry's Astro synopsis is the 2nd likeliest match on the whole stinkin' Internet.  You made it to the big time baby.

That's all I've got.

Politics are a tricky subject, but I felt like Timm never tried to shove his ideas down your throat.

He was so subtle about it I always felt like he was tricking me into something.  I think it worked

I sent him a PM.  We need his fresh ideas in this place.  We've been in need of a guy like Timm for a while now

Remember how he used to say "That's all I've got" at the end of his posts?  I always found it refreshing.  I miss that.

That's all I've got.
