Title: Favorite/Least Favorite player in RBI
Post by: PHole717 on 05/10/05, 01:18:09 PM
Well since we have a worst player, most underratted, I figured we can have fav and a least fav.

My Favorite is quite Obviously Fernando Valenzuela, because he can play every position including the umpire.

My least favorite player is Steve Bedrosian. But Pat, he is really good, why do you hate him? Well its because when my brother plays with NA, and brings him in to close and somehow always comes back when I'm winning because I seem to have trouble with sidearm closers.

Opinions? Comments?

I like Bedrock--I think he can be dominating at times.  The rest of the time, he's just pretty damn good.  He's one of those players that can throw the ball 5 "feet" outside and still often times get a swing.

My favorite in the game is (no surprises here) Jackson.  This guy is incredible... that is all.

My least favorite is Brett.  I have nothing against the REAL Brett (you know, the one that batted left-handed in the majors), but for me he is one of the worst players.  He is so bad with a runner on first w/ <2 outs that my friends and I have been referring to him as "double play Brett" for over 8 years now.  Why couldn't RBI have made him a lefty?
I think the reason I hate him so much, is that he should be awesome, but he is just mediocre.

Favorite player is definitely Chili Davis.  He does it all.

Stock, good call on Brett.  He's definitely one of my least favorite for the exact reasons you mentioned.

I'd have to say my all-time least favorite player is probably

My obvious choice should be Sandberg, but let's face it --- he is not very good in RBI.

My favorite RBI'er, therefore, is Dale Murphy.

Yes, I agree with stock.  Brett should be a stud; maybe a Mattingly-type.  But he clearly is not.  There are a lot of guys who should be good but clearly are not:

Puckett
GDavis
Baines
Galarraga
Ripken
Sandberg
Nokes

I agree with fknmclane on the least favorite player.             is a completely worthless tool. Anyone who leaves             in the game is a fucking dolt, that is all.

Favorite: Tim Raines.  A threat to hit one out every at bat, and a demon on the basepaths.

Least favorite: Curt Ford.  It's always a disappointment when he comes up in the St. Louis order.

Darryl Strawberry does it all.  He can crush homers, steal bases, snort coke, fuck whores, and he had one hell of a rap music career.

I don't think I have a least favorite.

Would never have guessed your least favorite to be a lefty.  Frankly I like Boggs since he actually IS the only lefty in the Boston lineup, which means your opponent has no idea how to pitch to him when he comes up, so he winds up getting a meaty pitch and drilling it.

As for my favorite/least favorite, I love Burks because the man always gets either a single or a homer for me.  Plus he's one of the few righties who can regularly leg out a Pettis.  Least favorite would have to be Kirby Puckett, because no matter how many times he proves to me that he's a piece of shit, I nevertheless still expect him to do something for me when he comes up, and he obviously continues to let me down.

I hate Gary Carter. It always seems like he should be doing so much more. Plus, I've never seen him come through in a clutch situation.

Favorite: Wilfong.

Carter is very streaky.  Lot of 0-5 games with 5 ground outs.  But in contrast, there are times for me where nobody can get the guy out.  He'll him bomb after bomb, and even when he makes poor contact, the ball will find a hole in the infield for a hit.  It's all or nothing with Carter.  Very weird.

I'm surprised that Gantry would select a lefty as least favorite as well.  There's just so many bad righties to choose from...

I like Carter since he hits a lot of singles for me.  And all I really want is someone on base when the straw man comes to the plate.  I will admit that I do expect more power from him though.

Which rules? I play anything goes pitching, can only use one starter per game (because we play series) basically mlb rules with the exception of the one starter, because they only give you two.

PHole, the "cheater" reference is a running joke on the boards.  Someone was playing JoeDirt online for a little while then one game he left in the middle out of frustration.  When Joe asked about it on the boards, he basically said that Joe was throwing unhittable pitches on the corners, making the game no fun so he left.  Since then we jokingly call him a cheater...

Although Eric Davis is very good on the game, and is my favorite all-time player, Ruppert Jones is my favorite on RBI.  I don't play too often w/all-star teams, I guess.

I hate Wade Boggs and Calvin Schiraldi equally.

Boggs because he always kills me
Schiraldi because he always stinks for me

Ah, I can see that.   Boggs has to easily be the most potent sub-800-power hitter in the game.

As for my least favorite, as in most hated, player in RBI, it would have to be Jack Clark, because the bastard always breaks my rhythm when I'm cruising against St. Louis, allowing McGee to finally get on base, with dire consequences.

This might sound odd but favorite player is probaly Vince Coleman, there a few things more exciting then getting your leadman on with a infield hit. He is the only reason I will ever choose St. Louis which I do frequently.

This brings me to my least favorite player, Jack Clark. He and his fake power numbers can suck my ass, I don't think I have ever had a clutch hit with him.
