If you guys are out there let me know if you would like a roster spot on the all DAH-NAH team.
If you've got an extra spot for me, I'd take it. I'm kind of a newbie here on the forums, so I don't want to step on anyone's toes.
As for my skills, I actually was a fairly competent baseball player back in the day. I usually played 2B, but my last two years of baseball I played every position except catcher at some point during the season. I'm playing in a church softball league now, and I've been playing left-center field - I even nailed a guy trying to go from first to third on a single last night. Batting-wise, I tend to maintain a good batting average, with fairly good power and average speed, although I've gotten slower as I develop my programmer's physique. I'm batting a shade over .500 in softball right now, but it's slow-pitch, so that doesn't say much.
Or, if you want to disregard all that, my hero is Ryne Sandberg, so you can just give me his skills. Whatever works for you...
RIght on Beefmaster. Unfortunalty, nightwolf has a lock in the starting spot at second. He has been a solid solid forum member. I do think I would like to have someone named beefmaster coming out of the pen. You can be our teams Rod BEck.
Bullpen stopper... I'm fine with that. I'll warn you, though - I basically throw batting practice. I pitched a few times when I played baseball. The first time was when I was 13 years old, playing 13-15 Babe Ruth ball (the last level of organized baseball I played). We were saving our "real" pitchers for the district tournament, so I started our last game of the regular season. I gave up 9 runs in the first inning and 6 more in the second without getting an out, giving me a sparkling ERA of 135.00. I believe we ended up losing that game 29-5.
I also pitched a few times my last year, when I was 15. I pitched two scoreless innings of relief (including a 5-pitch inning) and started one game, in which I got pulled in the third inning after giving up about 7 runs (no walks, just base hit after base hit, ad infinitum). I also gave up the only ground-rule double I've ever seen in my hometown's baseball field (it's 314 down the line, and it's only used for youth baseball).
I'll be an interesting weapon, though - a slow-throwing sidearmer. While I usually throw overhand when playing a regular position, I drop down to submarine when pitching, because frankly I need all the advantages I can get. The submarine angle combined with my low speed makes the ball kind of loop to the plate, and it messed up some of the weaker hitters I pitched against. I'm a righty, by the way.
Man, it's been awhile since I've been here. Sure, I'll take a spot on the roster. I was actually a decent left-handed power hitter. I sucked in the field though. I liken myself to Darrell Evans or Matt Nokes in RBI only banished to duty as a DH or sub.
btw...GDavis, I haven't forgotten about your Nintendo. I've just been incredibly busy and I may have misplaced (nice word for lost) your address. I will get that out to you this summer though. I'll try to get that done next week.
you are on the squad ED. welcome aboard.

Don't sweat it my man. Like I said, whenever you have time is fine. You are doing the ultimate solid for a fellow RBI enthusiast.
