The RBI Database has added quite a bit of overhead, had to do a quick RAM upgrade. Were only down for a few minutes, but I just did it on impulse. Sorry for that, let me know if things are snappier....
Much snappier. And dapper, too.

Lets see how useful 64MB of extra RAM is. Was on 192MB of RAM, went up to 256MB. Pretty much no free memory ever on the system and swapping like a bitch, so any little bit helps. I'd put more in but this motherboard is an old BX133 chipset which takes funky double-sided RAM and only has two slots. So this is as good as I get with what I have in the office...

115MB of RAM free and no swap used, that won't last long...
Free RAM down to 99MB...
75MB Free, RBI Database stuff definitely is a bigger load than the forum software...
27MB free, I think it's gonna be swap time soon...
4MB free and 35MB of swap used, dah nah! This fucker really need 512MB of RAM...
112MB of swap, I think it might be time to change motherboards or get new RAM...
stop talking to yourself
I prefer to call it a "tech journal"
I have a P3 machine here which I can upgrade to 512MB of RAM, may have to take dee-nee down for a couple hours and try it out tonight...
gantry, i think i speak for most of us when i say: what the hell are you talking about? i know what RAM is, but what the heck is swapping?
Ohhh, they have the internet on computers now?

If you really want to know the details - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_memory
Basically your computer only has so much memory (aka RAM), on dee-nee.com it's 256MB. If you are running so many programs that you don't have enough memory for it all, it begins to put stuff in your
swap file or
swap partition. This is a reserved area (or file) on your hard drive that is used to extend your memory. It's good because you can still run all your programs, but it's bad because it REALLY slows things down. The computer has to constantly swap stuff between memory and your swap partition/file. The speed of your hard drive is magnitudes slower than your memory, so stuff going into the swap really hurts the performance...
Make sense? Basically if I had more memory on dee-nee, the swap partition would never have to be touched. This would make things much faster during the day. Lack of memory is the main reason why the site slows down when a lot of users are on. Once I have no free memory and the swap partition starts being used, things take longer to load...
Fuck all that RAMming shit, I know you took it down with an armbar.
OK, upon that reboot we now have 384MB of RAM. That is most odd....
Wat hapend to da spel chek optione?
Gantry used He-Man's buddy ManRam to take down Dee-Nee. Only a force from the Castle Greyskull could take down the powerful Dee-Nee.

Hey, there's no need to flaunt your spelling ability.
I can think of a few people who apparently never used the spell check option, either, but that's another story...
