I think Gantry keeps moving Reggie Jackson level up so he's the only one there.

They're in on it together.
They don't want me to be part of their cool club. Well screw them, I'm starting my own levels.

From now on, I'm on Roy Smalley level

if you are going to add a guy for the NL, why not also the AL?   Might I recommend Jose Canseco?  He can go between Chili and hjose rice
Title: Re: New posting levels
Post by: Wilfong on 05/25/05, 12:15:12 PM
I'd like a more extensive level system. Maybe something that incorporates all of the players in the game. The reggie jackson level should be super high, so everyone has something to strive for.
Title: Re: New posting levels
Post by: Gantry on 05/25/05, 12:18:11 PM
The key is not to be debatable.  I'd love to add another 5 players an really beef up the levels, making potatoes 10,000 posts or something.  It's hard to have this many guys where most will agree that the guy above is better than the guy below..

For Strassy's example - you say put Canseco before Rice.  I think Canseco is definitely better than Rice, so it's debatable which level is better.  Either that or I'm over thinking things...

Title: Re: New posting levels
Post by: Wilfong on 05/25/05, 12:21:23 PM
I think you should keep adding names to the list. Some people might debate it, but it's really not that big of a deal and it's your site, so I think you have the final say. It would be really cool to have a ton of players on there (Oquendo, Orosoco, Berenguer and Willfong come to mind for me) and to have Reggie be a huge accomplishment. Then again, 5,000 posts is a lot.

Let's see, Gantry has about 2,000 posts per year so it would only take about 500 more years to reach 1,000,000.

I think maybe adding a few pitchers is an easy answer.  Perhaps "Calvin Schraldi level" after Santana, an average pitcher in the middle and Bert Blyleven level near the top....

I like that idea!  Maybe Saberhagen or Sutcliff for an "average" pitcher.

I think that anyone who has never posted, or has only posted once, should be at their own level of shittiness.  I was looking at the list of members, and cannot believe how many of the 490 members have 0 or 1 post.
Maybe they could be at Pettis level (since I know how much Gantry hates him).
Or, maybe this would be more appropriately Wumpst level.

Who is an average non-all star pitcher?  will likely be easier to relate?

Blyleven Level or Nolan Ryan Level or Roger Clemens Level?  Before or after Jim Rice?

I think Reuschel would fall b/w Blylevn and Schraldi.  I would say Krukow is a good pick, though some might argue he is better than Blyleven.  (On a Personal note, I think Moore is bar far the worst pitcher on the game.)
Still no love for the all-stars??

i have colected a hit with basically every other player in the damn game while playing ATG besides owen.  o-fer whatever.  and as far as my strategy goes, spkie will see an at bat or 2 for me to start every game as i wait for the 1st pitcher to start to peter out a bit before i decided to bring in the PH'ers.

damn you spike owen.  >:( damn you

Hey Gantry, I like when you change the posting levels to keep up with the times, but is there any way you could consider changing how many replies it takes to make a topic HOT?  Maybe 50 replies gets a yellow and 100 gets a red, idk.  Just think there are too many topics that are considered HOT...

Thanks,
OJ
