Title: No Hitters?
Post by: Superood on 05/26/05, 01:26:17 PM
Anyone ever come close to a No-No?  How about a 1 or 2 hitter?  (I'm talkin' about a 2 player game, not 1 player vs. the computer).

I'm sure we've discussed this before but I'm too lazy to find the thread.

I took a perfect game into the 9th against my best friend one night.  My pitcher was John Tudor (big fucking surprise) and Chubbs was Houston.  I had two out in the bottom of the 9th, he  pinch hit for Billy Hatcher, bringing in Lopes.  First pitch Lopes saw was laced for a single.  Next pitch to Jose Cruz was a popup, game over.  Unreal.

That's pretty cool.  You should be proud.  Was Chubbs talkin' shit after he broke up Tudor's perfect game?

I believe Strassy threw a no-no against me sometime in 2001.  I was StL, and I was completely wasted from a very strong pot brownie.  I have little recollection of the actual game, but I remember him afterward telling me that he threw a perfect game.  Not sure if I knew that I was playing RBI, but it still counts.

I know I wouldn't be talking any shit if I let someone 1-hit me in a 9 inning game with one pitcher.  But you'll likely see it at the tourney.  My first game of the COTUT I only got 2 or 3 hits...

No, like Gantry said, he had no reason to talk.  I'm not sure he spoke for a whole week after that game.

And to further another point made by Gantry, a no-hitter may definitely occur at the cousin to cotut, and I'll probably be on the receiving end of it.

No way mclane, you at least have the slurve down.  That gives you a much more varied selection of pitches that you are used to.  I'll be swinging at everything, and swinging poorly.  Booyah!

I was no hit by my friend Joe 2 summers ago. A full 9 innings. Words can't describe how nervous I was getting into the later innings.

I no hit my friends who play RBI maybe twice a year just about everytime, although it's usually in just one or two innings because of a mercy.

Last 4th of July I threw two no hitters in one afternoon back-to-back. Against total scrubs, but one at least went 9 innings.

Are you talking a no-no with 1 pitcher?  I have never done this to any "real" opponent, or have been myself.
However, a no-no with multiple pithchers, I have seen too many to come up with an exact number.  (15-20?)

I was referring to....I don't know what I was referring to.  Either way, I like to hear the great RBI stories and accomplishments of the past.

I like that you held the opponent to 25 ABs - apparently both walks were followed by double plays or unsuccessful SB attempts.

I managed a perfect game against a friend in Baseball Simulator 1.000, but I've never come close to a no-no that I can recall in RBI (excluding 10-run-rule games).

Good point.  I took this as a given.  I have tossed several no-nos with 1 pitcher (even in str8 pitch) with early ending games.
I would hope that nobody would get run-ruled in an ATG style game.  I feel bad if I give up more than a half dozen runs in ATG.

I know I've said this before, but playing last year against Fryak, I pulled off the nine-inning perfect game with Krukow and the Giants against Minnesota. 27 up and 27 down. Certainly the greatest feat of my RBI career.

Fighton--do you knuckleheads still have the west coast rbi outings?  If not, you  should start back up for practice for the tourney!

We're attempting. Fryak is still around, and Teddy is up for some game action as well. Unfortunately, I need to get at least one new controller, and I'm travelling like 5 of the next 6 weeks.

Traveling for business or leisure?  Do you take your system with you?

Leisure. Let's see my schedule lately:

Last weekend: In the Bay Area for a friend's engagement party
This weekend: Wife's sister is coming to town for the weekend to visit
Next weekend: Traveling to Fresno to visit my family/go to a sprint car race
June 10-12: Wife's friend's wedding in San Jose
June 17-19: Home
June 24-26: Columbus
July 1-5: Vacation in Lake Tahoe with about 10 other people
July 8-10: Friend's bachelor party in Las Vegas

In other words, mucho bullshit going on. If there's anyone in the Bay Area interested in playing a game some weekend, definitely let me know...
