Title: New ROM - All Time Teams
Post by: BeefMaster on 06/22/03, 04:48:15 PM
I've gone ahead and answered the "challenge" put forward by Clyon on a previous thread - I have completed an All-Time Teams ROM.  It contains what Marquis and I determined were the 10 greatest franchises of all time, as measured by the strength of a team of their best players.  This ROM has the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Athletics, Indians, Cubs, Cardinals, Giants, Dodgers, and Braves.

I limited players to appearing on one team - the one they played the most games for (exceptions were made for Andre Dawson and Carlton Fisk, since the Expos and White Sox don't appear in this ROM).  The stats are for what I determined to be their best all-around season with that team (McGwire's 70-HR season is out).  For the ratings, I didn't use any concrete formula, instead going by a combination of that season's stats, the player's career averages, era, and historical reputation (Babe Ruth is the most powerful player, despite being 4th in HR) to come up with what I feel is a fair representation.  You're welcome to disagree; that's half the fun of something like this.

I did initial work on RBI Manager, finishing it up with Nightwulf's RBI editor.  If you have any questions or comments, let me know.  Thanks!

Awesome ROM!

One small error:  On the Cleveland Indians, Albert Belle is a righty and Jim Thome is a lefty.

Thanks for the tip - I think I switched them around in the batting order at some point, which probably explains it.  I'll fix it and repost the ROM.

Here it is again, with the Cleveland batters on the correct sides.
