I went to a store in the Valley called Game Dude (http://www.gamedude.com/) to pick up two new controllers. I had never been before, but let me tell you that it was awesome. They had hundreds of games, from the popular to the very obscure. (If you're curious, here a list of how much they'll pay for NES games. (http://www.gamedude.com/nintendo.html))
When was odd was that, along with the two black "unlicensed" versions of RBI Baseball, I saw two games that had the "licensed" label, but were a light blue instead of gray. Could someone have replaced the shell of the cartridge? I was very confused. I'll have to go back again to see, but I'm almost positive that it wasn't a gray "licensed" game but a blue cartridge.
buy it for pics cheapo
Buy it and send it to me.
I once saw a red one..People change the cover and make there own labels...
If it was licensed, it had to have been grey. I think that was one of the stipulations for licensing through Nintendo. The only people who were allows to change cart colors was Nintendo themselves, such as with Zelda...
i saw one that was doo doo brown :P
Really,Thats weird...But so is the red one...I'm sure there is all kinds of colors...Like in Japan.
The only color in Japan is yellow.
God only knows what they are. They're either Color Dreams games, some other unlicensed company's games, or even prototypes. Protos can get ya some $$$, so I'd strike!
I'll pay big $$$ for a high yellow cartridge.

My favorite non-gray cartridge (save the Zeldas):
(The ultimate irony is that I shoplifted this when I was like 16)
I've heard good things about Bible Adventures. Had a chance to buy one at a thrift store for a buck about a year ago, probably should have done it...
Bible Adventures.
in my opinion, bible adventures is ass. yeah it's kitschy, but the actual game blows more goats than Noah did while on the Ark.
gantry, what thrift store were you at? i'm always looking for new places to scoop up NES games around here.
I'm pretty sure Octo's bible adventures cartridge is grey.
i believe that wisdom tree cartridges were sometimes blue, and sometimes black. i know a depressing amount about NES games, so I'm pretty confident on this one. i'd be surprised if there was a grey one out there, but I could be wrong.
Bible Adventures was the 19th worst game of all time on Seanbaby's Top 20 list:
http://www.seanbaby.com/nes/egm19.htm
I got that game from a friend who was giving away his NES games, and I finally took the time to sit down and beat the thing a few months ago. Each of the three mini-games starts out enjoyable, although a bit easy, and gets to a point where it becomes incredibly frustrating. The jumping puzzle in the last level of David & Goliath just about drove me to violence, and I said some very non-church-like words.
My Bible Adventures cartridge is black.

I love Seanbaby, but we all know that Deadly Towers is a good game and doesn't deserver to be anywhere that list, let alone #1.
Paging nightwulf...
Deadly Towers is #1?

Maybe my Internets is broken, but when I clicky on the link, it says that ET for Atari is the worst game ever and I don't see Deadly Towers on the list.
Deadly Towers is #1 on the original NES worst list. ET is first on that director's cut list with games from different systems.
did you guys ever try to play that ET game? Truly dreadful experience.
I never got to play the game, but this music video (http://www.keithschofield.com/et/std.html) about it is pretty good.

I hated that game. I don't know of anything that was more pointless. I can simply remember playing the game and I'd always wind up in some hole in the ground with no means to get out.
E.T is a horrible game, fortunately I was about 16 the first time I played it, so I wasn't a miserable kid at christmas or anything.
and beejay, that video was pretty sweet.
I regret taking the blue pill. So take, these broken wings.....Just for you Fighton.
I never realized they turned White Men Can't Jump into a video game. There is no possible way, however, that any basketball video game could have been worse than Bill Lambier's Combat Basketball.
Tecmo Basketball was probably the worst one that I played...

What? Tecmo Basketball with all the NBA players was great.
Hoops was horrible

Was Hoops the street ball 2-on-2 game? I got decent at it eventually (one of my friends had it), but it was a pretty bad game.
I agree on Tecmo NBA, although it got really easy once I learned how to effectively block shots and realized that most guards could make any shot inside the 3-point line. I don't know whether I've ever lost a game of that.
I kind of liked Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball.
Arch Rivals taught me how to play basketball the right way.

Holy shit, I missed this. Deadly Towers is hands down god awful. Stop lying to yourself.

E.T. was not that bad (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=8871.msg153814#msg153814), once you figure out how to get out of pits. There were many worse games. Sneak 'n' Peek (http://www.atariage.com/screenshot_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=445) comes to mind ...

I have vague memories of struggling through ET and then finally beating it, but it was so long ago, I think I was so exicited to get it that I couldn't dislike it too much.
Tecmo Basketball was fkn great. It was really alot like RBI in that it was pretty basic but what made it good was the real players. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Muggsy Bogues could dunk.

Okay, I just saw those screenshots, and I am completely mystified. Is it some kind of weird peeping tom game? Hide & seek in an empty house? Sneak up on the person in the corner & take 'em up the pooper while they have their eyes closed?

Muggsy could not dunk, but I did average 3 blocks a game with him one season.

It's a hide and seek game. In the two-player game, the idea is that one player physically leaves the room or looks away from the TV or whatever while the other player finds somewhere to hide. IIRC, there were only four or five areas of the house, each with maybe a couple places to hide. There was also a one-player game, where the computer would automagically hide, and would (rather badly) attempt to find you after you hid.

this is a really good game, in terms of rbi also that it was really only fun two player.
the jazz were the best team.
john stockton & jeff malone up top + karl & teddy edwards down low = unstoppable.
tecmo Basketball was awesome. I would love to have a cart of it.
mine cost $8. worth it, even though it is above our normal $5 range.
I would snatch it up for $10 even.
agreed. only problem is no one will play with me anymore.
I paid $40 or $50 for that game shortly after it came out... I feel ripped off.
I disagree with you, nomaaa, that the Jazz were the best team - I always thought post players were pretty worthless (their height advantage didn't really do much), so to me, the best team was the Bulls, who had three starters who could consistently hit from anywhere inside the 3-point line, and Pippen and Jordan were also ultra-quick and could block most anyone's shots.
point taken, as most would agree that the bulls were the best team. detroit is looked upon as another stellar team, with thomas running the show.
my favorite part about the jazz - john stockton and jeff malone (guards) and theodore edwards (small forward) could hit any shot inside the three point line, but (excluding stockton) had the height advantage to shoot over many defenders. to help stockton, i felt he was one of the quicker guys in the game - able to force millions of fast breaks a game, especially when deep on the outlet (which most of the time he was, unless you were stupid enough to use him as a defender). karl malone was great because of his all around ability (with decent speed and pretty good shot. the only weakness of the jazz was mark eaton (at the center position), but as most would say that this position meant the least in the game, you're really not losing much, and since he was 7'2" or so, you're in pretty good company.
I always played with the warriors.
I believe that tim, chris, and billy owens were in that starting lineup.
Mark Eaton was the only player I ever saw start to get tired in a game with the default quarter length. I was underrating the Jazz generally, though - I forgot that Edwards was pretty good.
JoeDirt and I used to play tecmo basketball online. Very fun game.
Blue Iris??
Double Dribble was the shit back in the day.
The sound effect for three pointers rocked.

though most saw it as stupid, i always benched eaton in place of m. (mike?) brown. he was hefty, he was non-white, and he could actually make shots. i really don't know why he didn;t start.
with the jazz, i always averaged more than 10 points for each player, then normally 30 for stockton and maybe 20 for edwards.
Mike Brown was one of the Pre-Championship Bulls that I was a big fan of, along with Pete Myers, Gene Banks(way pre-Champ) and of course Artis Gilmore
mark eaton is a cypress college product. thank you very much.
