Craig Biggio broke the modern career record for being hit by pitches in last night's game (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/baseball/mlb/06/29/bc.bbn.astros.biggio.ap/index.html).
This sucks. Has Biggio ever tried to get out of the way of a pitched ball? He should be stripped of the title and someone should take a hammer to his armor.
Baylor still has the record for most times hit by a pitch without wearing body armour.
Baylor never moved much either, but at least he took it like a man. I swear, Biggio aims his armor at the ball sometimes.
If I were in charge of baseball, the rules would be changed to state that if a pitch hits a player's protective gear (excluding gear on the head), the player is not entitled to first base unless the pitch would have been ball four. The pitch would simply be called a ball or strike depending on where it would have crossed the plate. I would also apply this rule to loose-fitting clothing.
I would make all players and managers wear ties while playing...and have pigtails.

What if the player is bald? Would he have to wear a wig? Could he just wear one of those hats with the pigtails coming out of it, like some people wear to Vikings games?
No, bald players arent allowed to play.
Well, maybe they could wear assless chaps to make up for it. But they had better be leather.
