Title: Official 2006 Dee-Nee Fest Site Selection Thread
Post by: fightonusc on 07/10/05, 05:22:42 PM
OK, here's where people can throw their names in to give "presentations" to the Dee-Nee general assembly on why their city should host 2 Dee-Nee Fest 2006. I will take on the Southern California bid, with assistance from Teddy. Anyone else who wants to make a case, sign up here as well.

Once everyone has signed up to make their case, we'll set a deadline to get your "presentation" together (like, perhaps next Monday). Then on that date the organizing committees can make their cases, and the Dee-Nee general assembly will have a few days to vote.

Who is representing what groups:

fightonusc (and teddyballgame) - Southern California
T Roogs - Chicago
Bonny - Durant

All I know is that there'd better be some fucking MK players at the next get-together. Sure, people generously offered to button-mash against me in Columbus, but it's just not the same.

Same here.  I always used Toad or Koopa, though, who had the slowest top speed.  I'd always still smoke everyone.  My time trials were fucking sick with those guys, and I am pretty sure that I have reached about the fastest possible times that Toad and Koopa can possibly get on each course.

2 is my favorite by far, but all the home versions kinda suck. If I could find an MK2 coin-op somewhere with good joysticks, I might never leave.

For console play, I generally go with MK:Trilogy for the N64. The graphics and sound are garbage, but there's no load time, and I simply cannot use the PSX controller. You'd have to see me play to understand.

I suck with the arcade joysticks.  I lived in a town without an arcade, so all my MK experience is on home systems.

People, we are not voting yet. We are trying to decide on who is going to make the "presentations" for each city.

teddyballgame and I are taking on the So Cal presentation. Who is going to do Chicago? T Roogs?

I think Gantry basically offering to host everyone can work as the Chicago presentation.  Beyond that, you may be asking for too much.

I'd like to nominate Ft. Wayne or Indianapolis, Indiana.  However, I'm far too lazy to head up such a venture, so someone else would have to take control of it for my convenience.  Lazy + selfish.  I need to work on this.

Mario Kart 64 was played in 232 quite a bit. Super Mario Kart, unfortunately, made no appearance. Wait, maybe it wasn't 232. It was the room on the far left (furthest from the pool) on the side closer to the airport runway.

On a related note, fuck Mclane and fuck his fucking beach. Fuck it right in it's fucking fuckhole.

How bout this?

Find the home address of each living RBI member.   On behalf of Dee-Nee, we write a letter to each inviting them to be our "honored guest" at the next Dee-Nee Fest.  We claim that we're holding the festivities in their hometown and in their honor.  As soon as we sucker a real RBI'er into an agreement to attend the Dee-Nee Fest, then we've got our location.  Those who attend can RBI with a real RBI'er + Mike D. can seduce him

Hello again gentlemen.  Sorry for my abscence, however I have been on vacation.  I heard something about beer and old video games, so I am in.  I realize that I am a new guy, however I feel my relation entitles me to an honorary invite.  I also mentioned this website to the family on our vacation to the lake, they were big fans.  My sister reminded me that I actually wore Gene's World series ring for a minute.  Since then the rest of my life is filled with mediocrity.  What month is the Fest, as I would like to put Virginia as a possible site.

I'm kinda thinkin this thing needs to be at someones house. majority can stay at a nearby hotel but that way those with financial hardships can still make the trip. Plus i think some serious bbqin' needs to take place as well as some drunk wiffle ball/home run derby at nearby park. i'm also thinkin it should be someone with a nice finished basement and arcade rbi.

OK, I still think it's either Chicago or Los Angeles. Although, I would like to throw Phoenix in as a possible contender, with Mike D. moving down there and adding to the already solid fknmclane/chubbs contingent. Plus, it would be a lot closer for us California people.

Thoughts? Can we all crash at your place, fknmclane?

Yeah,
I gave that up when I was around 23 years old.  It is way too time demanding and doesn't pay for shit.
I have not had a sanctioned fight since Apr-2003.  Besides sparring and grappling every now and again at a local gym, I am done.

Not necessarily afraid of the airport; just can't stand it.  The same can be said for La Guardia, O'hare, Kennedy, and Houston.
