Title: RBI 2005 ROM
Post by: sfbennett1 on 07/11/05, 04:33:07 AM
I've started making a 2005 Midseason ROM (actually 3 ROMs) -- Here is the first of the 3 ... Arizona ---> Detroit ... The lineups were made using the ESPN current depth charts, so some players who have been injured are on the bench (Garciaparra, Carlos Guillen). The stats are all there and the pitchers all have their real pitches (sinkers, curves, and pitch speeds should be about right).

Here is the ZIP of the ROM, and the TXT file to preview.

All feedback is appreciated ... I know the power numbers are high, but power numbers are up obviously, so I'd like to see how realistic this plays out ... Lemme know.

Tejada and Hafner are the strongest in the league?

Haha yeah, after messing with it awhile I think the power numbers were off, so I completely redid them with a new system -- the onld one was influenced too much by AVG, hence Tejada being the strongest in the game (Hafner might really be one of the strongest, though) ... anyway here is a newer version.

Top POWER Ratings:
1 D.Lee, CHC   956
2 A.Dunn, CIN   911
3 Burntz, CHC   907
4 TClark, ARI   906 (.630 SLG in over 170 AB)
5 AJones, ATL   906
6 Thomas, CHW   900

(Tejada is 875, Hafner 876, FYI)

Are you a Cubs fan by chance?

Haha not at all ... I think you'd be hard pressed to argue against D-Lee being the most powerful player in the game thus far this year ... As for Burnitz ...... I goofed up haha -- I accidentally set his power to 907 instead of 799, as I had meant it to be.

(I am however a student at The Oklahoma State University, alma mater of Jeremy Burnitz ... maybe I boosted him up subconsiously)

Derek Lee should be the most powerful guy in the league, but not a difference of 956 to 911 to second most powerful.

I dunno ... his slugging pct is .733 -- Tejada is second in the league at .604 -- and he's 22 total bases ahead of anyone else in the league ... Also, no one else in the league is really having an outragous power-year -- Andruw is on pace for 49 homers and 27 doubles; Teixiera could maybe get to 50; Dunn and Morgan Ensberg have good HR/AB ratios; Meanwhile Lee is on pace for 50 homers and 50 doubles. Now if you take into account park factors it would probably diminish his lead a tad, but I wasn't trying to create a completly sabermetrically-correct ROM, and even so he's head and shoulders above anyone else this year.
