Now that Nightwulf has put together his amazing editor, it seems like it might be worthwhile to try to start accumulating comments/insights/to dos with respect to the game, as it appears that everyone's goal is to get this to be a mo' betta RBI.
A couple of things I've noticed:
-The basemen run a hell of a lot faster than in RBI
-The MLB logo by the on-deck circle, though cool, makes it very tough to catch foul popups over it - you can't see the shadow at all
-The tiles for the outfield walls have not been updated with the distance in feet (which isn't really a problem, since HRs are still in meters, but still...)
my goal is to get it in a FS '85 Version. If the Royals and Blue Jays could somehow be put in the place of 2 AL teams, I think we'd have a hit.
The Cards, Dodgers, Royals, and Blue Jays made the post season. The other teams are just gravy.
This ROM could be an '87 ROM as well. The Tigers would need to replace one of the AL teams.
I'm a big fan of 84-87 Baseball.
Honestly, Ryno, I'm shocked that you don't want an '84 or '89 version.

aka the "my word, the cubs didn't blow ass this season!" edition
89 is on RBI 2
The 84 teams are okay and I watched the Cubs in '84 but I really really got into baseball in 85.

Aren't the 84, 89, and 90 Cubs on RBI 3?

Yep. I didn't follow baseball in '84, so I've never really used the '84 Cubs, but I actually like the '90 Cubs better than the '89 team - their offense is much better. The pitchers weren't all that good, but I value offense over pitching, and they still had Wild Thing.
I love the Mets 85,86,87,88 and 89 teams.
it was said that players run a lot faster in FS 90...what are the speed equivalents? i was working on a ROM, but then i realized i really don't know how the different stats equate to ability within the game. any help?
Wow, ok, here's something I completely missed before, and just found by accident.
From the main menu of the game (1p play, 2p play, etc.), hit right three times. The cursor will "wrap around" back to 1p play, but now there's some Japanese characters in an unused part of the screen. Do it again for a different set of characters, and one more time to go back to none. You can do the same thing in the second row (cont league, new league) too.
That may not make much sense written out, but try it. Just start the game, get to the 1p play, 2p play, etc. screen, and keep hitting right. You'll soon see what I mean.
Anyone want to hazard a guess as to what the fuck those are? I'm looking into icons and palettes at the moment, so I call "not it."

No clue, a translation of the hiragana (the smaller characters) is Biiki. I popped that into a Japanese-English dictionary and nothing came up. So either the word is obscure, I can't read a hiragana printout or that word is combined with the Kanji letters (the larger ones). Unfortunately there are thousands of Kanji characters so I'm not going there...
ok, a little more digging:
The first character that changes are Go & Sen - one means back and the other means ahead. Still trying to hunt down the other one, have to search the characters kids learn at grade two for that one...
BOOYAH!
The character that looks like an "I" is kou and I couldn't find the last kanji character. So I kept filling in character combinations into the dictionary until I got something:
Senkou means to bat first - so I initially thought those options must let you choose to hit first or pitch first. No dice, as a 1P vs CPU let you bat first regardless of which option you chose.
What it does do is give you a cheering section - if you get the first set of Japanese characters you get these annoying girls going "GO GO GO" at the beginning of the inning. If you choose the second set of characters the annoying girls come up in the bottom of the inning. If you play as normal the annoying girls don't come up at all...
I want the last 45 minutes of my life back...
All that Anime watching is sure paying off
It also still says "FOURBALL" when a walk is issued.
