sufficient pop in his bat.

the whole Giants lineup kind of makes me nervous...I really hate facing Mitchell, Maldonado and the aforementioned Davis.

to me, the Giants' sticks are kind of like Detroit-lite.

Chili Davis

It's chilly inside, it's chilly outside. It's a regular fuckin' chili-fest.

Can anyone name that movie.  If someone can they should be knocked up to 4 or 5 star level for doing so.

I don't think the Giants lineup (or team for that matter) gets enough credit.  They really aren't that bad.  Uribe isn't a great leadoff hitter but it's not like he's Marty Barrett or anything.  Mitchell is dangerous.  Leonard, depending on how many 8-balls he's gone through, can hit a homer or two.  Maldonado would be better in the five spot but gets a token homer every once in a while.

Will Clark is the man.  He kills the ball and is one of my favorite #5 hitters.

Bob Brenly was a worse player than he is a manager (remember, I'm from Phoenix,) and Chris Speier should be substituted immediately for him.  He's got much more pop in his bat.

Chili Davis is unbelievable for a 7 hitter.  Hits for power, hits for average.  You can't ask for much more.  He's one of those guys that hits a 2 or 3 run bomb when you need it most.

Robby Thompson should be taken out right away for the great Mike Aldrete.  The guy hits.  That's all there is to it.

If you start Krukow, you actually have a better hitter than usual.

Back to Chili.  He ties the whole lineup together.  They've got two solid pinch hitters and Chili makes the lineup more whole and far more dangerous.

I'm sure someone can get that quote, right?

I'm afraid I don't know the quote, but I agree that Chili is a huge asset to the Giants. He's what shoeless Joe Jackson would be on this team. Runs, hits, fields and has power.
One word comes to mind when I think of Chili: Professional.
He takes a workman like attitude when it comes to hitting.

Charles Theodore Davis is hands down the best #7 hitter in the game.  Clark has more power, but Chili has the whole package.  He's the key to a good but not great SF lineup...

Harry Spilman needs to leadoff for the Giants, Uribe is ass...
