Title: RBI Commercial
Post by: witt is the shitt on 06/25/02, 10:51:37 PM
First off, I'd like to say that this is the funniest and best site anywhere.  The amount of detail that you guys go into for every part of the game is amazing.  Anyways, I recently downloaded a video of the RBI Baseball commercial and I noticed something weird.  At one point in the commercial, they show where you can pick a pitcher to use and there are five to choose from!  I saw Fernando as the first pitcher, so I knew that it was the NL All-Stars.  So then I went down the list: Sutcliffe.....Franco.....Bedrosian.....Tudor.....  TUDOR???  I know he had a 1.28 ERA for the game, but you can't have someone from the shitty ass Cardinals on the NL pitching staff!  If it weren't for the Asstros, the Cardinals would be the worst team in the game!  I was just wondering if anybody else caught this.

Welcome Gedman and good call!  I hadn't watched the commercial in awhile, but I certainly didn't notice that before.  I also noticed they bragged about being about being the only game licensed by MLB, yet they were using the black cart in the ad, which wasn't even licensed by Nintendo...

The unlicensed cart was part of RBI's pull in the late 80's though - they were the "renegade" company who gave Ninendo the big fuck you.  It was cool, if you were 9 at the time.

Even though the black cart wasn't licensed by Nintendo, that version of RBI was still licensed by the MLBPA.

I know, but it's still ironic that a company who went out of their way to bitch about the evils of licensing with Nintendo brags about their exclusive MLB license...
