I was watching a Twins Yankees game the other day and was thinking of my cousin Gene. I typed his name into Google and I found this site. I find it hysterical and have every intention of playing the drinking game soon. It is wierd to see your cousin inspire something like this "dee-nee" thing. And before anyone asks, I am related to Gene...not Barry Larkin, as I have heard that joke my whole life.
Who is Barry Larkin?
Holy crap, an RBI relative, and when I saw the user name created I was gonna joke that Gene Larkin's brother had joined, really wouldn'tve been too far off.
Dee-Nee!!
BTW "gene larkin" into google gets you Dee-Nee on the 3rd hit on the second page (so about the 12th hit)

Do you have any pics of you and your cousin? If so, please post!!
I think this guy is trolling!
Hard to belive that someone would attempt to troll these boards as the cousin of Gene Larkin, so I got no reason to think he's making it up. Welcome Mike! You own a copy of RBI I take it?
Mike, if you're serious, let it be known that I modeled my JV baseball playing style after Geno.
I was a bench-warmer but proud to be a steady asset off the pine. I looked up to Geno and was proud of his game winning hit in the '91 WS.
Gentleman,
I assure you that I am indeed the cousin of Gene. Our fathers are brothers, he grew up in Mineola NY on LI, he went to Columbia. His moms name Joan and she moved after his dad Gene (my uncle) died shoveling snow. He now lives in Eden Prarie and I have pictures on my moms fridge from christmas. His dogs name is DH. We were never really close, he is much older, but i have a ball signed by all of the 87 twins with the world series logo on it. And to the guy who thinks I was "trolling". Why would I troll? I was dicking around after a yankees twins game and fell on some "dee-nee" thing. I thought you guys sounded like friends of mine who play old video games (tecmo Bowl) and find ways to drink playing them. Anyway, the one time in my life that I was the cool kid in school was when Gene hit the ball in the 91 world series. Here is how you know this is real. I was watching a Giants 49ers game on MNF and the series game 7, and was a kid so i had to go to bed, i was pissed at my parents and have still not forgave them. If you guys dont believe me, thats ok, but why would i be searching for GENE LARKIN on google. later boys, and i would like to learn more about the drinking game
I believe you. In fact, you might be added to the hall of fame here. We've never had a relative of an RBIer here, ever.
Except for Rdub, sorta. He once claimed to have slept with John Franco
Nice story Mike, even though I was a huge Braves fan in '91. Also, I don't think anyone doubts your story. If you were joking, you wouldn't have been so polite. Anyway, I think there was a tread about variations on the drinking game, but I'm too lazy to find it. A search for "RBI drinking game" might lead you right to it.
I am honored. I live in VA now but any Gene paraphenalia (spelling?), would be at home in NY, but I will get you boys something. The John Franco thing, very funny. And i must add one thing, i do own RBI. I may get thrown off due to the fact that as a kid, I often replaced Gary Gaetti and at times even Kent Herbek with Gene, but he is family. I belong in the hall of fame for one reason, I have hit more Gene Larkin homeruns that any other man alive.
Can't hate you for that. In fact, I'd bet Gantry would make Gene an official "legend" here

Just testing you, dude. I've seen plenty of trolls as a member of this message board: http://www.thetrolls.net

That was the Redskins and Giants, not 9ers and Giants. I remember because my parents didn't have cable so I missed my Skins beating the World Champion Giants that night on ESPN, but I did see the greatest World Series game ever.

That's so cool. Try replacing Kirby.
Mike,
Where in VA are you? I'm in West End RIchmond. We should hook up, play a 7 game series of RBI and have the loser pay for the wings at Hooters!
I live in Harrisonburg, and i just got fucked by priceline.
Thanks again for providing more info, good to have an RBI relative on here. A guy emailed me who was a nephew of a Twins or Tigers pitcher in RBI2, but can't remember the name right now. But being the cousin of the man (in the video game sense) who spawned Dee-Nee gives you instant street cred. Some links:

* Larkin's page on the RBIdb (http://dee-nee.com/wiki/index.php/Gene_Larkin)

Wait, didn't we once have a relative of Senior Smoke here once?
We should make Mike and Gene Larkin the guests of honor at the next Dee-Nee fest!
I think I may be Mike Larkin.
Born on Long Island, grew up a town over from where Gene lives, and now live 45 minutes from Mike.
Hmmm...
