Title: Cooperstown RBI Games
Post by: Briznock on 08/02/05, 04:01:56 PM
There was really only one game that even matters.  California vs. Detroit.  Mike Witt's 11 inning complete game.  An early inning mistake to Alan Trammel was the only thing that kept him from RBI immortality.  1 hit, 1 run, 11 innings, 0 BB 4 K's and a shitload of grounders early in the at bat.  I am guessing he averaged 6 or 7 pitches an inning.  His late movement pushed and pulled the ball just off the sweet spot of Detroit's normally thunderous bats.  Wally Joyners walk-off shot in the bottom of the 11th gave me the win.  It was a Top-5 moment in my RBI career, as it was my first ever win while wearing only a baseball hat.  Super strong margarita's and my love for being naked are a great combo let me tell ya.  Throw in nintendo and it only gets better.

There were another 20 or so games played.  2 of which took place during monsoons, but the RBI umps let them play.  All kinds of fun screens to play on, the ball was the umpire, if you had a guy on 2nd he looked to be playing in the nude, the fould like was a bunch of O's.  If I can get pictures of that one Ill put them on here.

Forgot to add that we met Tom Brookens.  He was the manager of the team that played the free game at Doubleday field.  My buddies keen eye for RBIers spotted him so we ran down for an autograph and picture.  His mustache is nowhere near as nice as it was back in the RBI day.  I think he was genuinely embarassed about the 'stache, which is sad because if I could grow one that nice, Id never shave it off again.

Your opponent got 1 hit in 11 innings off Witt?  Was he drunk or did he recently have some poor lasik surgery?

Honestly, he is a good RBIer, I was just getting some lucky bounces and breaks.  He beat me a few weeks back with Houston.  He scored 6 or 7 runs with them, in curve style.  I was the drunker one though.  We did combine for 32 errors though, I think that is an area record.

I think it had something to do with his opponent wearing nothing but a baseball hat sitting right next to him.

I will admit that I only scored one run on Witt in 11 innings. However, in my defense, my trigger finger was BEYOND twitchy and I swung at pretty much every first pitch. Also in my defense though, a game we played later that night, the Tigers regained the advantage winning I think 4-0 behind 9 scoreless innings from Doyle Alexander. The Faginals, sorry, Cardinals had no chance. Also, for those of you thinking I may have been affected by my nude opponent, he gets naked all the time, so it was no big deal. He's like a happy 3 year old that hates clothes.

Ryno.... I think I saw you, were you in the grey sandberg jersey?  I told my buddies that we should go get the nintendo and play it on the big screen at the induction.  They just called me a dumbass.
