Title: two things at once
Post by: fknmclane on 08/19/03, 01:36:44 AM
Thought I should let you guys know that the great Al Pedrique is the manager for the Diamondbacks AAA team.  I'm hoping he replaces the not so great Bob Brenly very soon.

Has anyone heard of this shit going on out here in Phoenix?  We have no gas.  Some fucking pipeline broke about a week ago and it still isn't fixed and they also need federal approval or some shit, so we're all fucked.  I'd say one out of twenty gas stations actually have gas but it goes in about three hours because people line up and wait for hours.  It's quite a joke.  So if anyone has any spare gas lying around and they want to FedEx me, let me know.

What part of Phoenix are you from?  I went to school at the UofA.

I take it you partied down Speedway a few thousand times.

I've lived in Scottsdale/Phoenix since I was four.  Right now my wife, daughter and I live in North Phoenix.  I've lived in the same 10 mile square pretty much since we got here from Rochester NY.

What year did you graduate?  By the way, Andrew Walter and the rest of the Sun Devils are going to declaw the Cats this year.  I'll give you two touchdowns if you're interested.

Make it 40 points and I might make the bet.  Wildcat football is not what it once was, unfortunately.
I have friends that live south of the city, Ahwautukee(sp?) and Mesa.

Mesa and Ahwatukee are what we call the east valley, or the crack of my ass.  I hate those places.  AHW is all subdivisions and has the largest, most obnoxious shopping centers in the world.  It almost makes your head explode.  AHW is more south but Mesa is definitely the east.

Mesa is the worlds second largest Mormon population behind only Salt Lake City.  It's quite a weird place.  You can't smoke anywhere in the city, including bars or while walking on the street.  It's old and dirty and reminds me a lot of Tucson.

The only thing Mesa has going for it is that there's quite a little punk/emo scene down there.  I personally hate emo and think the scene sucks but a lot of people are very excited by it.  It's all created by their own hype.

OK.  Some pent up hostility there.  I personally love the T-Town, some great dive bars there.  And we all know RBI'ers drink at dive bars, not Scottsdale dance clubs.

You're damn right.  I wish I could blow up Old Town Scottsdale.  I hate all the clubs and hate the people even more.  It's just as bad as LA.

You're right.  We RBIers drink at dive bars.  My personal favorite is a block from my house.  I get to crawl home.  If any of you fools are ever in Phoenix you have to check out The Dubliner.

It's all about Rochester, NY.  That's where I was born, but I only lived there for 3 years.  I still have relatives that live there, though.

I went to Rochester once & watch my friends eat what's called a "Garbage Plate." Most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

Lips, that's fuckin crazy.  I too was born there but only lived there for four years.  All of my dad's side still lives there.

What's the garbage plate?  You can't just say something was the most disgusting thing you ever saw and then not give a description.

Garbage plate is like 10 different nasty foods all mixed together, like mac & cheese, sloppy joe, hot dogs, beans, all mixed together.

Here is a link (http://www.geocities.com/garbageplates/)

Dude, thanks for the link.  I'm probably going to visit my relatives sometime early next year.  I can't wait to wolf down a garbage plate.  My dad grew up in Rochester.  I can't wait to see if he's eaten one or not.
