I would like an opinion on the arcade game from those who have played it. How does it differ from the traditional, Nintendo game? Do you think it is worth it to play upwards of 400 dollars for the arcade game? Thanks.
From my arcade page:

Arcade vs Nintendo
The Arcade version of RBI is very similar to the NES version. From a graphic and gameplay standpoint, they are exactly the same. That being said, here are some of the differences:
* Different Teams - RBI Arcade has an entirely new set of rosters and teams. Instead of the regular lineups from the 1986 season, RBI Arcade features 10 All-Time teams - Oakland, Houston, Los Angeles, Cincinatti, San Francisco, New York Yankees, Atlanta, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis, and Boston. There are some great matchups in there, Koufax vs. Ruth, Cy Young vs. Mays etc...
* Faster Gameplay - Overall, the arcade game is slightly faster than its Nintendo counterpart. Nothing major, but just enough to screw up your rhythm when switching back and forth...
* No BOPs - BOPs (aka computer errors) do not exist in the arcade version, taking away some of the randomness...
* Super Carry - The fly balls go much higher and travel much deeper, making for much more homers...
* Timer - You only have a certain amount of time to throw or make a substitution, otherwise the computer will throw the pitch or cancel. This makes sense when you consider the game is played on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Also, after a set amount of time, your credit is up and you have to put another quarter in.

That being said, we do play the NES version much more than the arcade. We have the cocktail version of the arcade and it is a bit small for our tastes. I wouldn't give it up for any price though...
I have the stand-up version of the Arcade game. I think it's great, I will never get rid of it. We had a tourney last night and played straight-pitch on the arcade game, it was fun lots of homers. The machine is expensive, but I think if you love RBI, it's worth it.
Joe mentioned that the height of the arcade game is a bit of a problem (we have the cocktail version) on the upright machine. Do you guys use stools or just stand up?
Last night we used stools, it was a blast. I can't wait for the next tourny. I just might take a belt next time.
We usually stand, but it is hard to get comforatable or get the right angle to see well. Last night I took some tall stools from the kitchen and we sat on them, made it a whole lot more enjoyable to play the machine.
Yea like i said. The stools were awesome. Got a little crowded, but we managed.
good luck in michigan piner... where that rbi belt you retained proudly... as for andrew, you are just going to have to earn your stripes... and take a few more losses.
