We all know that they flash to the scoreboard inbetween innings. If you hit the pause button just as it switches back to the view of the field and select a pinch hitter, the computer (pitcher) will appear off of the mound. I've even seen him behind home plate. In this instance it is impossible to hit it and he just walks every batter...this could last days or until a power outage.
Has anybody else experienced this phenomenum? By the way, it won't happen all the time, and you HAVE to time it just right.
I've experienced this glitch many times. Most of the time the pitcher ends up throwing from Little League distance. It really isn't all that hard to hit, and that's how you make the glitch stop. Once the ball is put in play, the glitch goes back to normal. If you sit with the bat on your shoulder, he still throws strikes.
I've also seen the pitcher throw from first or third base. The mound just seems to move over into the other split screens. In this instance, he'll throw balls for days. The only way to stop it and continue the game is to swing away and strikeout to end the inning.
Bump thanks to CurtFlood's first post...
I've seen the mini-pitcher pitch often thanks to pictures sent to me and the emulators. But I honestly think that yesterday was the first time any of us actually got this glitch on the NES. I was playing Potsie last night and timed the pause just right. I was 3/4th of the way towards home. Lips and crew, have we ever gotten this glitch before?
I can get this glitch every time...it occurs most often with at least 1 baserunner for some reason, but does also occur with the bases empty.
It doesn't have to be immediately after an inning change...you can sub in a pitcher during an inning and hit pause immediately after choosing new pitcher and it'll happen.
Oh, and if there is a runner on base, the pitcher can hit B and the glitch will go away...I do this all the time (when there's a runner on base) and then just hit B to cancel it.
I've never got it, and I have a tendency to sub first thing when I use the AL. Maybe I'm too slow? (Note: That's how I came up with the SHD. McGuire subbing in and using the boost to bash it.)
You have to be very very quick with the pause button. After you select your new pitcher, you have to hit pause in between the time it takes for the game to remove the box that lists available pitchers and when the game actually displays the new pitcher on the mound...probably a good 1/2 second or so.
For some reason I've gotten in the habit of hitting the pause button entirely too much...and I can time it perfectly just about every time.
I got a form of this glitch, last week with Jason. But it wasn't on a pitcher sub, it was on a batter sub. And I'm not even sure if Jason/I pushed the start button immediately after the sub...because this glitch took place just before all of this thread's talk. Anyways, the pitcher came back...and he was pitching from second base. Has anyone seen that before (I know pitching from the way left/right, halfway down, has occured)? I have a picture of it, that I could post tonight/tomorrow for reference...if it's rare.
From what I'm reading, I think the sub can happen whenever you press the pause button and the pitcher disappears on the mound. If you made a substitution during that AB (pitcher or hitter) it will happen. I've seen the glitch before you make the sub, while JoeDirt makes it happen after a sub. I think the two things that have to be done are subbing a player and hitting pause so you can't see the pitcher on the mound....
Thoughts?
Yeah...Gantry is correct.

I agree 100%
CurtFlood, I see you made a very important purchase of DKM's "Blackout." Well done, my friend.

I'm a pitiful sight
And I ain't all that bright
I'm definitely not chiseled from stone
I'm a cheat, a liar
No woman's desire
I'll probably die cold and alone"
Has anyone got this glitch without a sub, simply a pause and unpause...
It is my belief that this does not generate the glitch.
