Title: 33 Consecutive scorless innings...
Post by: Attezzobal on 08/23/05, 08:41:57 PM
...were just pitched by OctoFranco and the Mets against me and the Twinkies.

Game 1 I won 8-5, but it seemed like a pitcher's duel
Game 2 Octo won 4-1, Orosco pitched out of a bases loaded game in the third
Game 3 Octo won 1-0, I had two hits, his streak began in the fourth after Orosco gave up a home run and he put Yatching in
Game 4 Octo won 1-0, I had 2 hits, he had 5, Carter singled in the fourth and went to second on an errant throw, Straw doubled and that was the game
Game 5 Octo won 1-0, Bly had a perfect game into the 6th when my second baseman bopped an easy pop up, the play at second was close, but to no avail. I had 10 hits, he had 4, I had the bases loaded in the 9th with no outs and hit a liner to the pitcher and got tripled up, Dykstra came up in the 9th and got to first, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out and than Mustache Hernandez slapped a single to center which ended it. Bly went a 8 2/3rds, McDowell got the win

Game 5 was the most demoralizing game of my life, and I'm still shaking from it.

Pic? to come

Are you wishing Octo would go back to Ukraine now?

Wow, ten hits and no runs it tought to take.  Were there lots of DP's?  Also, were there lots of double plays?

I actually had the bases loaded with no outs twice...Earlier in the game I had them loaded and Bly hit into the 1-2-3 DP, than I grounded out, I should have let him strike out, but he had two hits in the series already, the bases loaded in the 9th ended in a completely demoralizing TP, 1-2-5-4 TP to be exact. Than two other occasions with 1st and second and no outs resulted in nothing, I did an EXCELLENT job all series of not running into outs, which last night (although I was quite drunk) I ran into an average of 6 outs a game.

I feel like Freddy Garcia right now. :(

In the Columbutt tourney in my 5 game series against GDavis, I was up 2 games to 1.  That motherfucker came back to win the series by throwing consecutive shutouts.  I'm pretty sure I won the 3rd game 2-1.  Up until now, that was the best pitching I'd pretty much ever seen.

Good eye Teddy, good eye...

An outstanding pitching performance by Octo, and Atezz has proven himself to be a worthy player.  I love threads like these...

I think this was easily the most exciting series we've ever played that didn't come down to the final game...  Each of us were constantly pitching out of jams and getting the strike-outs/DP's right when we needed them.  What makes it even stranger is the teams (i.e. not HO vs. SL).  I think 12 of the 13 runs in game one were off homers.

And for the record, Attezz literally was in a nervous tremble for quite a long time after this.

You know, with the popularity of what a westerner would consider 80's-style music and 80's-style dress in Ukraine, 80's-style console baseball games could probably catch on pretty well too...

i'd have to say thats pretty impressive....thats a tough task no matter what team you use or what team ur playing....even the astros could somehow fluke a run over 33 innings...although whoever u were playing must be pretty good too if 3 of the games ended in 1-0 scores.

too bad you couldn't get film footage of the series. i'd be first in line to watch that. congratulations on a tremendous performance.

Time to redeem myself...

I'm gonna try to set it up to record it on VHS, if there are any spectacular games, I'll be sure to send them to Wulf so that he can make them Internety (care of RDub for that term)

More of the same.

7 Game series, octo wins 1, 2, I win 3, 4 (with Reardon pitching at least 16 innings of those), Octo gets game 5, I get six...

I have both starters game 7, Octo has Gooden. We both play it perfectly, I tie it up in the 6th or so with a solo blast, Blyleven (Senor Smoke started, Viola pitched three including getting out of a huge jam, than Bly took over around the 6th) threw a pitch, and Moustache Hernandez hit a bomb, unbelievable.

In the 9th, I have runners on second and third with one out, I strike out, and than McDowell throws the his first pitch of the series that DOESN'T DROP for a call strike three, against Hrbek no less.

Brutal, absolutely brutal.

One of those was technically a most awful perfect game.  Most awful indeed.  On VHS this time too, if we can figure out how to transfer that shit to the I-net...

Sounds like Octo should be making the trip to the next COTUT or cousin or whatever.
