the only thing i really wish was different was that maybe ther weaker hitting teams had a different stadium when they were at home.....maybe have StL, HOU, MIN, play in a much larger field, making it harder for other teams to go homer nuts. very pitcher friendly parks.
might help, might not, i dunno. that or else have em play in a phone booth and both teams hit everything out like crazy. also give this new field more foul territory to help out the pitchers.
Great topic. The first thing I would do would be add every MLB team. In fact, back in the early 90s I mailed a list to Tengen of rosters for the teams that were not in the game. I took the time to look at the 86-87 rosters, made a starting lineup, the top two starters and two relievers and four solid bench players. I say keep the roster at 16. It's just good to keep it that limited. I'd kill to see the game with all the teams. I look at guys like Rance Mulliniks, Andre Thornton, Dave Dravecky, and Willie Wilson and I wonder what might have been.
More teams...different fields...I would like to see how RBI would be with the same gameplay...i.e. the fat people....in other environments with different teams...outside of good ol' tengen field...but to disagree with Gantry and the Gang for a minute, DO NOT CHANGE THE MUSIC...RBI without that music just wouldn't be RBI...the music is there to comfort us during non-crucial parts of the game...and is there to liven the game up during the crucial at-bats,etc...but give RBI a little more variety...although the lack of variety and simplicity of the game is what makes RBI so great in the first place.

You can't change anything.
I'm ashamed of you TBT. :'(
The only improvement that I think could possibly be made is allowing the second player to utilize the start function. Anything else would be bastardization. Although we would have a bunch more still-active RBI'ers if every team had been included....

ACtually, still there would be very few. Kevin Brown maybe....he was just coming up with Texas, as was Jamie Moyer. Texas also had Sierra at that time. Palmeiro would easily make the bench for the Cubs. Milwaukee had B.J. Surhoff. Then there's Bonds. Mulholland did pitch for the Giants in '86, but didn't make the cut on the game (of course they were using '87 players who won that division, and Mulholland spent '87 in th eminors. David Wells pitched for the Blue Jays in 1987 (4-3, one save), and could make a case for the setup guy for Henke. But....Mark Eichorn was better suited for this. Any others you guys can think of?
Weather effects. Have rain, wind, snow, heat waves. Rain delays would be sweet. rain outs

that sounds good as well, and maybe remove joe dirts ability to cheat? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v624/bradtheimpaler/006.gif)
I would just like a tougher CPU and the ability to play a season, with cy youngs and mvp's and the likes.

I agree with the tougher CPU.

You just named about twice as many as we have now...
Meaning the first statement by OctoFranco was accurate.
Maybe more enforcement of some RBI 'laws' would be good, most notably eliminating the ability to use both starting pitchers in one game.
I would not include more teams or have alternate stadiums. I would probably prefer to have no glitches (the wallzie, for example) but I guess they add character so it isn't a big deal.
Change? I would add a long reliver to the pitching and a longer firework show after bombs.

Dravecky could have one arm on the game? Id like to see that, and maybe Jim abbotts nub.

Rain outs are already incorporated into the original game, they just didnt start happening until the game/NES got old and dirty.

Who the fuck is this guy? Octowhat?
An Octogenarian is someone who is at least 80 but less than 90 years old. Just to clarify.
I thought that was a great name when I saw it for the first time.
Haven't we been over this before Joe?
He represents the Franco that was an all star in RBI and started the season on an NL team this year.
Duh.

I believe Octo was busy visiting the Ukraine (is weak) and had to take a hiatus. Welcome back buddy! We need more pics of no hitters...

allowing double switches would be huge. it hurts to bring in a reliever and then have him have to hit or burn a pinch hitter right away.

nice, hadnt thought of that option.
that would make things very interesting in agame in extra's when your pitcher comes up to bat in the 6th spot or where ever.
if the game distinguished between different fielders, and had a season mode with stat tracking, it would truly be absolutely flawless. i have often dreamed about such a thing.
