Title: Nolan Ryan
Post by: northstarbob on 08/26/05, 10:25:02 PM
I think we need to give a lot more credit to Nolan Ryan than what he gets...He throws harder than any other pitcher in the game and keeps the Astros at least somewhat competitive...for the Astros...He dominates hitters with his blazing fastball but can also dominate with the ability to change speeds...Either way...THE RYAN EXPRESS LIVES FOREVER!!!

Thanks to DAMNTHECOWBOYS as this is the only Nolan Ryan photo that would work

playin an arch rival of mine, i got a solid 9 innings outta nolan against the cards.  i lost in the bottom of the 14th 1-0.  Tudor tossed 7 1/3 or so innings that game as well.

This isnt true, as minnesota has the hardest thrower...but Nolan is crafty...and you have to be when you are the best hitter and pitcher on your team

I find Clemens and Gooden to be near-identical pitchers.  Both good ones, mind you, but I really can't tell their attributes appart (though admitedly I rarely use Houston and don't play as much with Ryan as I perhaps should).

True, however I think they both top out at the same MPH fastball.  Plus, you only get about 7 good fastballs out of sr. smoke.  You can get 20+ from Nolan.

Just watched Nolan Ryan's 7th and final career no-hitter against J.Key and the 1991  Toronto Blue Jays. Looked at the roster for the 91 Rangers. Wow. Both teams, really.

80's Angels
Brian Downing, Gary Pettis, Nolan Ryan ('79), Devon White, Willie Fraser.

Also on the Rangers that year: Goose Gossage, Oil Can Boyd, Kevin Brown, eventual Angel Chad Krueter.

Has there ever been a likable person named Chad?

One of the guys I play online video games with is a nice guy named Chad. I would also suggest maybe Ochocinco, who seemed like a decent dude who was just kinda weird.

I made friends with two quality Chads in college, one of which is one of Nacho's best friends from childhood.

I would also point out that the demonization of Chads is one of the tenets of the incel weirdos, so we should be doing our best to avoid Chad-stereotyping.

OK well I think Chad has been proven quality.  I have a new proposal - Zorba.

How many fewer votes would he have received if his name had been Chad Trump? Enough for him to have lost in 2016?

Thinking about it more, incels hate Chads but also desperately wish they were Chads, and part of the appeal of Trump to them is that they absolutely believe that he is an Alpha Male who has Been With Hot Chicks, so I don't think the name would hurt him.

I tend to stay away from using Houston, unless I do a 9-game "season" with each team, trying to hit a home run with each player, which I've done before (not all in the same season, but close).
