Tim Raines Jr. should be added to the list of 2nd Generation RBI'ers. He's a September call-up with the Orioles, and he actually played with his dad on the O's at the tail-end of 2001. I just happened to check out that section of the site for some reason today, and I remembered them.
Oh, good ole rock. Honestly how do you get away with having a nickname made from the drugs you carry around in your back pocket while you are on the baseball field.
Is that where Rock came from? It makes total sense but I never thought of it. I always thought he got the name because he was so solid a player. By the way, he's probably my favorite RBI player. He's got it all. I've probably hit about 100 leadoff homers with him.
Yup. Pretty sure he used to tote crack with him into the dugout. Classy. You can take the man off the streets, but....
Think he bought it in Lowell, MA?
I had him on the watn before but took it off for some reason. Perhaps cause he didn't play at all last year, either way it was stupid. It's back on...
You sure the "Rock" comes from his drug habits? Find it very doubtful he would allow himself to be called that....
The Rock thing could be an urban legend, but then again I would trust a guy with that much Jehri Curl.
I got to see Raines Jr.'s 1st game in the majors at Yankee Stadium. I sat near left field so I got to heckle him too. He looked really bad, striking out a couple times and missing the cut-off man on throws. He did have an infield single, so he has legs just like his old man. They both smoke crack rock, this is for sure.
I heard that Tim Sr. used to slide headfirst so he wouldn't break the bottle of coke he had in his back pocket.
True story, as it's in the Hall of Shame:

Can't quite remember where I read it though, but I remember it being a quote from Raines. Added a potshot about the rock nickname to the page. Wow, two updates in two days!
I have been vindicated! Correct (Dee-Nee!)! The Rock lives on!
