I heard a rumor that the new nintendo system will allow you to download old nes games and play some of them online. This may mean that we can download RBI and compete against each other. sweet.
Where did you hear this rumor? I must know!!

Thought this was in the RBI forum, but I guess not
yeah, thanks for the link. there's a lot that i have missed out on...
That rumor is in fact, completely false. Nintendo wants NOTHING to do with backwards compatibilty. Sony is into bacwords compability though

Proof? Or you just talking or are you sure this is true in regards to the Revolution?

It's not a rumor, idiot. It's quite true.
though, one would think of such capibility when the controllers can adapt to the old style controller...

Again I ask for some proof, but I'm pretty sure you're just talking out your ass.

Have you ever tried reading (http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=5aa8631e-d4a0-45d9-a88c-e5931b807091)?
I suppose your next argument will be that "oh, well Nintendo may say it's gonna have it, but it won't." In that case, I hereby decree that while all of the released information regarding Sony's PS3 indicates that the system will run via the new Cell processor, it actually will be run by fluffy pink bunnies. Trust me on this. I'll get the last laugh.
thanks, nightwulf.

I read an article on it the other day - it's motion-sensitive. You hold it in one hand like a remote, with your thumb on the D-pad and your index finger (probably) on the B button on the back. The controller responds not only to movement, but also to rotation (I believe it has some small gyroscopes in it), so it seems that much of the movement in games will be done by moving the controller. There are also attachments, such as an analog stick that plugs into the controller - in the article I read, they had a modified version of the Metroid FPS that used controller movements to look and the analog stick to move.
For NES games, I assume you would hold the controller sideways and use the A and B buttons on the "bottom" of the controller.

Can you come up with one reason why they wouldn't do this? The system comes WiFi-enabled, so it would be able to easily connect to the internet, and Nintendo owns the rights to the games they made, so licensing wouldn't be an issue at least for those. I assume they'd sell the games, not offer them for free, if that's what you're thinking the problem would be. Nintendo has been re-releasing older games for the GBA and DS, so it's not like they're against the idea of reusing their games.
That controller seems really cool. its just to bad that all kiddie, cartoony games come out on the Nintendo system

Yes, but I'll have to get one just so the wife can play the new Zelda game.

Its no secret that Nintendo markets their games toward the younger demographic.
Its no secret that the WB markets toward the Teeny Bopper Demographic
Its no secret that I used to watch GIlmore Grils in the first season
I also enjoyed the Pokemon Cartoon for a bit
I didn't say anything about gore, I just like playing games that aren't as cartoony

Wow, that's the same reason I bought the game cube. I never expected a married woman to share in my Zelda nerdery.
I agree with Nightwulf as well. Nintendo focuses on the fun factor for most of their games, rather than realism or violence. That's why the new controller's so wacko, it's an innovation that supposed to make gaming more fun.

No, but it is a well-established myth by idiots who think that any game without one or more 'mature' themes is by definition a 'kiddie' game.

I love how every "omg nintendo's a kiddie company!" idiot ignores all non-"cartoony" games that appear on Nintendo's hardware, and ignores every "cartoony" game that appears on non-Nintendo hardware.
Nightwulf
I know little about gaming systems, but have heard the same stuff (I think a lot of this is due to the lack of sports titles, but really I have no clue). I've got a GameCube that my wife plays Zelda on, the only game we have that I play is Pac-Man/Dig Dug/Pole Position/Galaga combo.
Are there some very good games that you recommend? Not that I will actually buy any, but I may.

I think Pikmin (http://cube.ign.com/articles/166/166510p1.html) is my choice for "highly underrated game that people think is 'cartoony'." Then again, I haven't really bought a new game in like 3 years, so maybe there's a better one.
Unless you can find Pikmin for like ten bucks, I don't know that I'd recommend buying it. It's a fantastic game, but it's short. Give it a rent.
I am an idiot because I don't play nintendo

Half right, if my really fast skimming is correct...they offered old NES games, but you can't play them online...I think that was part of the argument. Too lazy to look...
