I suck at short links. This thing looks friggin' awesome, and the guy's willing to ship.
I'm the current high bidder (I thought it went off in 5 hours as opposed to 5 days when I put in my bid) but the reserve hasn't been met yet. Not sure if I really want to pay anything higher than about 500 for it. Although it would make an awesome piece of furniture.
mclean, IL? that is about ten miles away from nacho...and only about 120 miles from me...i would easily go get that thing. if you hadn't already bid on it, i would be VERY tempted for this one
If you're interested, I'll undo my bid. Like I said, the reserve hasn't been met. I haven't been able to figure it out yet (I'm still waiting for Nightwulf's take), but can you tell if this is only one unit? I emailed the guy and asked if the reserve wasn't met if he was willing to sell just the RBI part of it...But the more and more I research it, the more confused I get.
Does anyone know for sure if all these games are in one unit or several units?
It is the cocktail version of RBI two screens. He's giving you the boards for Mario and Excitebike, so you can swap those for Castlevania or RBI if you want to play those. A nice throwin, but if you're like me you'll never play the other side and stuff the the castlevania/mario/excitebike on in the corner...
what gantry said. plus, what self-respecting NES owner doesn't already have Castlevania, Super Mario Bros, and Excitebike? Although assuming the unit can take two boards at the same time (that's what I got out of it) I would probably leave the SMB board in with RBI. that's a game that's more fun to play for a high score, and I could compete with my friends myself.
What I did is personally combine the best TV (they will typically have some burn-in) and controllers and put them on one side. Swapping CRTs is dangerous as fuck if you don't know what you are doing, so leave them unplugged for a couple days if you are going to pull that off...
Looks good to me. I doubt the guy would sell just the unit and RBI board, as that'd leave him with the remaining boards to sell off in other auctions. If you really don't think you'd ever play them, you're probably better off just buying it all outright and selling off the extras yourself (especially if you're hoping to win the auction below reserve).
The other boards might be cool though. The Vs. series of games is slightly different than the ones that appeared on the NES. Obviously RBI is very different (arcade gameplay, arcade players), and I remember SMB being different as well (tougher overall, some 1ups were added in the home game, can't warp further than 6-1 IIRC). So playing through those might be fun too.
Nightwulf
that's super cool.
That would be great in my basement, but I can't justify a 2000 mile road trip to pick up an arcade game right now.
I believe he is willing to ship (that's why I bidded on it), although I don't know what the charges are.
Strass-Anymore thought to you bidding on it? Let me know if you are and I'll happily rescind my bid.

Why bother. The reserve hasn't been met and it's still days away. Also I don't rule out offering a financial contribution of my own to such an investment...

i don't think i will really bid on it. i don't really have the room for it now, and as much as it pains me to say it, i really should be investing my money into paying off my credit card debt and car payment. thanks though
